So I'm thinking I have a plan to keep people from turning around in my driveway

I'm going to get a bunch of these:

and stake out both sides of the DW.

1. The first question is...

why do you have such a problem with people using your driveway to turn around?

If it is a real problem, only a gate will solve it. If you must use signs, something maybe like "Don't U-turn here. It pisses me off. Use that guy's next door-- he doesn't care and I don't like him anyway."

(Or, spikes, remotely activated so you can get in and out.)

2. Totally useless

Unless of course you are going to put a burned out car on the edge of the driveway for effect.

6. Looks like a pretty good idea...

I need some for my driveway too.

My house is on a dead end dirt road on the side of a steep hill bounded by pretty deep culverts on both sides. It's not as narrow as it used to be when we first moved here in 1996, but in winter it can get tricky. People are always turning around in my driveway. Last week a guy from down the hill was coming up when he was met halfway by a sanding truck/snowplow. Unwritten rule of etiquette on the hill is that the person going down yields to the person coming up, but in this case the guy coming up thought he would be polite and let the town truck go down, and he went to back into my driveway.

And killed my mailbox post.

There was a time 20 years go when first moved here when the JWs made regular appearances (sent here by a JW neighbor at the bottom of the hill) and I seriously considered putting up an electrified gate. I think it would have been fun to see a whole carload of them park out on the dirt road, crawl under the gate, and walk the hundred plus feet up a muddy driveway only to get turned away. If hearing the "vicious" dogs barking for blood inside the house didn't scare them off first.

9. i had to turn around in someone's driveway early the other morning

if the street had been posted "dead end" or "no through street" it would not have been necessary. i guess i could have backed up.

10. Maybe if we put some small mounds in near the signs

it might be slightly more intimidating....

11. Several feet of your driveway are probably part of the road right-of-way.

Do you have the right to keep people from using the part beyond your property line?

12. Not exactly sure how much R.O.W. there is

It's just a 1 1/2 lane country road.

Here's my concern. My driveway is gravel. Eventually some idiot is going to either hit my car or break a window from the stones.

14. The R.O.W. should be marked on your survey

Or if you are renting and don't have a survey, you might be able to see on the tax department's tax maps.

Depending on where you live, the local government may have arranged to have the tax parcel maps put on line.

13. Doesn't the 2nd amendment lend itself to solving this problem?

Just sit outside in your lawnchair with your AR15 propped nearby.
