5. Ha, I had a cobra138xlr with a little switch in the back

7 channels below ch 1 and 33 channels above ch 40. Yeah, those were fun times for sure. Licenses were $4.00 and the popularity was exploding. My dad sold K-40 mobile antennas and I had a Shakespeare Big Stick antenna.

Walkie-talkies were taking off too. I had a lafayette walkie-talkie, the thing was huge, but cool.

10. Rocket man burning out his fuse up here alone!

I had a REALISTIC NAVAHO TRC-30A C.B. BASE STATION. We put some versions of the radio shack mobile ones in our cars and even had a handheld until the size of a loaf of bread lol.

I was Nomad and I still remember my call sign to this day 40 some years later.

12. My first was a Johnson Messenger 123A 23 channel... still have it.

Went by the name 'Watchdog'. Still remember my call letters.

My dad started with a Johnson Viking Messenger 5 channel... and the channels were according to which crystals you had installed at the time.

13. The call signs stick in my memory as well

I had two. First was my dads and second was mine. I had a 4x4 as it was after they had to expand the licenses due to the popularity.

19. Dad's Johnson Viking was a tube set.

I really liked the old teardrop mic.

He had it in a 1959 Ford with the long whip antenna.

6. I had a Cobra something-or-other

back in the late 70s with a big old lollipop chrome mic.

And I forget what was in the VW van (white over red)

"Coffee breaks" were fun. We got to meet the local CBers.

My CB handle was "Pussywillow". I was pretty innocent in those days and didn't realize it would get the guys all excited and shit. I just liked pussywillow plants because they felt like tiny kittens.

Today I would probably opt for, "Saggy Knickers" or something

11. I bought a 69 blue Micro Bus with a bed over the engine lol.

Date night had a whole new meaning and that thing was fun to drive. Sitting over the turning wheels was cool back then. I was used to regular cars and truck with the wheel farther in front of you.
