Manual pin setting! Brings back memories. I did this for two years to make some extra cash...

… in 1951-'52. Every rare once in a while, someone would release their ball early, while you were still setting the pins and you had to be alert and fast...

1. I did this back in the 60's - never forget the involuntary shudder

when I heard a ball rolling from behind me while I was resetting pins . . . .

and yeah - hadda watch for those tricksters that fire a ball down with severe backspin on it,

and knock the pins flying up into my shins.

OH - and the tin can ( tomato juice can with lid removed) with water to keep hydrated -

My shifts were from after school until closing - sometimes handling as many as 4 lanes at once . . . .

I slept well . . . .
