War of Rights-First Impressions

The Game is definitely well researched, I live in Southern Maryland and have been to most of the Major Battlefields (still need to get to Petersburg ) The Terrain is "right", the Uniforms and Weapons Authentic

I started in a "Drill Camp" to learn basic controls, they aren't overly complicated, once I was comfortable I went into a "Skirmish" type Battle set in the Woods around Antietam Creek. I spawned in and was in no immediate danger so I began to dutifully march to the sound of the Guns. As I got closer the "Thrum" of a Bullet passing close by got me on edge a little (I don't think it was fired AT me, just passed close)

I started seeing more Soldiers as I got closer and I noticed a group of Secesh falling back quickly on my left, so I looked to my right and there was a group of Blue Bellies coming out of the Woods, I raised my Rifle and realized I didn't know if it was loaded (it wasn't, Load when you spawn in!)

Like Virgil Cain's Brother I stood my ground and loaded (its realistic and maddeningly slow) and managed to get the shot off before I was dropped by a Minie Ball

I was able to get the Learning curve after that and actually made some decent shots....if you like the Civil War I think you might enjoy this...there isn't the Shoot Em Up Mentality of Call of Duty or Battlefield. It seems to be for "Buffs" who can't do Reenacting (Like Me)

It’s a newly out game and seems to be around the Antietam/Harpers Ferry Maps

That may expand in time

3. i'm reading the chapters leading to antietam now

in shelby foote's civil war.

it was a desperate bid to sue for peace and anglo/french intervention that almost worked.

is the game single player or online? can you choose sides, rank, unit etc?

5. I am sold based on your review alone.

I had not heard of this game being released.

I am a history buff as well. This looks very old school - no aim assist, no fancy gun bullshit, just 'real' skirmishes in an historically accurate fashion.

I was severely disappointed in what I saw previewed of CoD 'battle royal' and Battlefield V with its fucking SJW feminist horseshit.

I am going to pick this one up for sure. Thanks for the recommendation.

9. Best game of my time playing:

We took 3 charges. Repelled them all, even counter charging each time.

The 4th time the rebs came in my regiment was behind a stone wall. The rebs came charging across our front trying to hit our sister regiment on its flank. Our Sharps rifles made short work of them.

I know I got at least 7 kills that game, 0 deaths. I almost felt sorry for them.

10. The lack of a hit-counter bothered me at first....

Especially long range Volley Fire

But then I realize Real Life doesn’t have them either

7. Yup. $29.99

Off topic, but I'm playing an AD & D Campaign on Roll20. About 6 of us online once a week. I'm getting my 5E Player's Handbook today.
