1. perhaps in the himalayas? who knows?

as vast as the American northwest is some goofy gun nut would have shot one by now.

sightings in Tennessee or Mississippi are as likely to be space alien as sasquatch.

2. Sure, why not.

I've been reading a bunch of books about Yellowstone lately, and one was about bigfoot encounters there. It was pretty interesting. I think the world is a lot stranger than people give it credit for, especially when you get away from civilization and the illusion that we're in control on this swirly blue marble.

4. We had a big black bear eating black berries a hundred feet from out kitchen window this morning.

We live out in the middle of nowhere in far northern cali. There are thousands of mountain lions in this state and especially in this area but they are almost never observed.

We own timberland but are surrounded by about 6 million acres of national forests. There is a whole lot of nothing out there.

I saw an animal I had never seen before this spring. I had to go to google and do some searching. It was very close to me and I had eyes on it for about 30 seconds but could not place it.

It was a fisher. They are rare but when I asked other locals they had been seen in this area before but we are talking about a couple of times in the last 20 years.

From the house windows in the last year we have seen bear, turkeys, mountain lions, deer, elk, bobcats, coyotes, quail and even a road runner. From my truck my wife and I saw a couple or wolves a couple ridges over from the house.

I would say that big foot existing is unlikely but it is possible. I would have no problem avoiding people out there if I didn't want to be found.

I've been on many search parties looking for lost hunters and even when you know what area they are in they can be damn hard to find. Some of them have never been found and the remains of others have been found years later. This is big country with continuous wicked steep high mountains and very few roads. There are still lost small aircraft out there that have never been found.

The pacific northwest is not like anywhere else in this country. You can spend many days traveling the back country and wilderness areas on horses and never see a soul.

9. I suppose I could be considered one.

These things exist in the lore and tribal history of every native American people without exception. They regard them as being as real as the bear and the eagle.

Sightings and encounters go back to before the birth of this nation.

I've read about bears stepping in their own tracks and even seen some examples of what a print created that way looks like, and I'll buy that some people are mistaking them for something else.

Some can't be mistaken or hoaxed though.

When someone comes across a trackway in deep snow, of 25 plus inch tracks with 10 feet of more between strides...that isn't a bear stepping in its own tracks, or walking on its hind legs.

That is something else.

13. Absolutely. There is a lot of evidence.

They disguise themselves by shaving and moving east.

15. Since I started this thread. Here's what I think.

No such thing.

1) No real evidence like skeletal remains have ever been found.

2) People have been using game cameras in lots of remote places for quite a while now with no bigfoot footage ever being captured.

3) In order for them to procreate over time there'd need to be some sort of population of them and they're supposedly pretty big creatures.

4) Lots of people who supposedly believe in them have gone on numerous "expeditions" with no real evidence ever coming out.
