Did DU change your political thinking?

I used to think I was a Republican. I started reading DU after stumbling upon it and just started lurking. Over a period of time I began to really appreciate some of the posters. Many of them helped sway my thinking.

I proudly vote for Democratic candidates. Although I am always open to voting for an Independent or Green Party candidate because I feel I have a bit of a libertine streak in me. I realize the good and bad the Government can do and am always cautiously optimistic about what they can do for us.

I don't like a lot of the divisive purity posts that go on at DU and avoid them for the most part. Frankly, I'm not into arguing much. Maybe a counterpoint every now and again. But rarely engage in a lot of back & forth. I'm kind of excited to have another site to read and learn more. Hopefully it doesn't devolve into "you suck" posts.

So has DU changed your thinking?
