Bill Maher on radical Islam
HBO’s “Real Time” host Bill Maher sharply criticized liberals for their refusal to denounce the actions of radical Islamists on Friday. Maher began by discussing a Pennsylvania teenager who had photographed himself mimicking a sex act on a statue of Jesus, and said “this kid is not going to get killed for this, he’s not even going to jail,” and that the case “speaks volumes about why liberal, Western culture is not just different, it’s better.”

He then criticized President Obama for his claim that ISIS is not Islamic, “President Obama keeps insisting that ISIS is not Islamic...but, if vast numbers of Muslims across the world believe, and they do, that humans deserve to die for merely holding a different idea, or drawing a cartoon, or writing a book, or eloping with the wrong person, not only does the Muslim world have something in common with ISIS, it has too much in common with ISIS” he stated.

Maher turned his criticism to self-proclaimed liberals who refuse to denounce radical Islam in the name of “multiculturalism,” he declared “cultures are different. It’s OK to judge that rule of law isn’t just different than theocracy, it’s better. If you don’t see that, you’re either a religious fanatic or a masochist, but one thing you are certainly not is a liberal.”

He continued, “It amazes me how here in America we go nuts over the tiniest violations of these values while gross atrocities are ignored across the world.” And “we hear a lot about the Republican war on women, it’s not cool. Rush Limbaugh called somebody a slut. OK. But Saudi women can’t vote, or drive, or hold a job, or leave the house without a man. Overwhelming majorities in every Muslim country say a wife is always obliged to obey her husband. That all seems like a bigger issue than Evangelical Christian bakeries refusing to make gay wedding cakes.”

Pay it forward weekend.

Do something nice for a stranger this weekend.

As you go about your activities this weekend. Take an extra moment to do something nice for a stranger.

* buy the person in line behind you that coffee
* drop a whole dollar in the charity bucket instead of just the .17 cents change
* hold a door open for somebody
* let that car in front of you get over into your lane
* or something more expansive/generous if you are able

Here is hoping that everybody has a safe and happy weekend.

Kim Jong-un Suffering From Gout

Couldn't happen to a more deserving guy. May he rot on earth before he rots in hell.
North Korean Leader Kim Jong-un Suffering From 'Gout Due to Hereditary Obesity'
The ruling North Korean leader, who is believed to be his early 30s, has not been seen in public for more than three weeks. He also skipped the regular session at the Supreme People's Assembly in Pyongyang on Thursday amid increasing speculation that he is severely ill.

"Kim Jong-un is suffering from gout, which is why he is limping on both legs. I understand that he is suffering from gout along with hyperuricemia, hyperlipidemia, obesity, diabetes and high blood pressure," a source familiar with North Korean affairs told South Korea's Yonhap news agency.

One Hundred Twenty Years of Climate Scares
Scientists seeking funding and journalists seeking an audience agree: panic sells. “Global cooling is going to kills us all!” That’s the gist of an amazing chronology of the last 120 years of scare-mongering on climate. It is truly mind-boggling:

1895 – Geologists Think the World May Be Frozen Up Again – New York Times, February 1895
1902 – “Disappearing Glaciers…deteriorating slowly, with a persistency that means their final annihilation…scientific fact…surely disappearing.” – Los Angeles Times
1912 – Prof. Schmidt Warns Us of an Encroaching Ice Age – New York Times, October 1912
1923 – “Scientist says Arctic ice will wipe out Canada” – Professor Gregory of Yale University, American representative to the Pan-Pacific Science Congress, – Chicago Tribune
1923 – “The discoveries of changes in the sun’s heat and the southward advance of glaciers in recent years have given rise to conjectures of the possible advent of a new ice age” – Washington Post
1924 – MacMillan Reports Signs of New Ice Age – New York Times, Sept 18, 1924
1929 – “Most geologists think the world is growing warmer, and that it will continue to get warmer” – Los Angeles Times, in Is another ice age coming?
1932 – “If these things be true, it is evident, therefore that we must be just teetering on an ice age” – The Atlantic magazine, This Cold, Cold World
1933 – America in Longest Warm Spell Since 1776; Temperature Line Records a 25-Year Rise – New York Times, March 27th, 1933
1933 – “…wide-spread and persistent tendency toward warmer weather…Is our climate changing?” – Federal Weather Bureau “Monthly Weather Review.”

Tapeworms take over man’s body after he eats sushi
Tapeworms take over man’s body after he eats sushi
Sushi is a staple meal for thousands, but for one man, it nearly ended his life after worms took over his body.

An x-ray revealed the Chinese man’s insides were crawling with tapeworm parasites because the raw fish he ate had been contaminated. The man from Guangdong province had earlier gone to a hospital complaining of stomach pains, before the horrific find. Doctors believe some of the uncooked fish was to blame.

Wikipedia describes tapeworm as “the infection of the digestive tract by adult parasitic flatworms called cestodes or tapeworms.

“Live tapeworm larvae (coenuri) are sometimes ingested by consuming undercooked food. Once inside the digestive tract, a larva can grow into a very large adult tapeworm.” This type of infection is life-threatening once it reaches the brain.

Living on a Dollar a Day: The Lives and Faces of the World's Poor
Astonishingly, one out of every six people who share this planet with us live on less than a dollar a day.

Slightly over one billion people on the planet live on a dollar a day. While the reasons for their poverty may be different across geographic regions and political circumstances, the results are much the same. Extreme poverty robs people of options in life, and the cycle is nearly impossible to break without help. While the poor often work very hard at jobs many of us would not even consider doing, not having access to basic health care and education keeps them at the bottom of the economic ladder, usually for generations.

Living on a Dollar a Day shares the personal stories of some these poorest of the poor, honoring their lives, their struggles, and encouraging action in those who can help. In making this beautiful and moving book a team traveled to four continents, took thousands of photographs, conducted numerous interviews, and researched information on the agencies around the world that strive to help the destitute. The resulting stories and photographs offer a heartrending glimpse into the everyday realities of individuals and families facing extreme poverty. Personal profiles give voice to their experience, and research about the root causes of global poverty is shared along with information on how those in more fortunate circumstances can get involved.

6 Reasons Barack Obama Is A Failed President
1) He was unprepared for the job: He had never run a business. He had never been a governor. His performance as a state senator in Illinois and during his very brief time as a senator was undistinguished.

2) His aims are ideological and political, not practical: Barack Obama’s only concerns are… A) Is this good for me? B) Is this good for the Democrat Party? C) Is this good for liberalism? Whether it’s good for the country or not doesn’t even enter into the equation

3) He doesn't know how to work with Congress: Obama’s standard modus operandi is to propose something he knows Republicans will oppose, then trash them non-stop, refuse to meet with them, and cap it all off by complaining that they won’t work with him on anything.

4) He's narcissistic: Is Barack Obama just a heavy duty narcissist or does he actually have narcissistic personality disorder? It’s impossible to say for sure, but either way, his self-centered behavior cuts all the way down to the core of who he is as a human being.

More schools mull dropping Michelle O’s lunch rules
GREEN LAKE, Wis. – The Green Lake School District is the latest the join a number of schools reevaluating their participation in the National School Lunch Program.

“When I walk through the school cafeteria, I see multi-colored fruits and vegetables and whole-grain pasta or wraps on the trays of our students. The food looks really good, but the students aren’t eating it,” principal Mary Allen says, according to the paper. “… The limited salt, whole-grains, vegetable substitutes for meat, and unfamiliar foods such as ‘quinoa’ and ‘jicama’ are not being embraced. Although the food looks good and is undeniably healthy, it is unflavored and tasteless.”

Remember. Liberals know better how to run your life than you do. It takes a village.

How gun control made England the most violent country in Europe
Gun control in Britain passed in stages, beginning just after World War I and continuing in a reactionary fashion with increasing strictness through the 1990s. When the final stage arrived in 1997, and virtually all handguns were banned via the Firearms Act, the promise was a reduction in crime and greater safety for the British people. But the result was the emergence of Britain as the "most violent country in Europe."

And what has been the outcome of passing more laws in Britain to remedy the fact that other laws were ignored or broken? It has not been good. In 2009, twelve years after the Firearms Act of 1997 was passed, Daily Mail Online reported that Britain was "the most violent country in Europe." They also reported that Britain's home figures showed "the UK a worse rate for all types of violence than the U.S. and South Africa."
