Where is a can of beans or can of wasp spray when you need it?
On January 27, two alleged home invaders forced their way into a Village of Alafaya Club apartment by the University of Central Florida and were holding the boyfriend on the floor at gunpoint when the girlfriend emerged from a back room with a gun and sent the suspects fleeing.

Commenting afterward Skargee said: “If we didn’t have a gun, it would have been game over. They were bigger than me, bigger than both of us. We had no way of stopping them. The only thing that made them stop was the gun.”

Holy cow! I agree with Joe Klein

I happened to come across this today. Though the event is from April 2014. I thought is was interesting to hear Joe Klein and Jeff Greenfield praise FoxNews.
Time Columnist Joe Klein Savages CNN, Calls Fox ‘Only Option’ For Straight News At 6
Time magazine columnist Joe Klein called CNN “an embarrassment to our profession,” surprising a New York City audience on Sunday by declaring Fox News “the only option” for straight news at 6 p.m.

The global warming hoax continues
How can we believe in ‘global warming’ when the temperature records providing the ‘evidence’ for that warming cannot be trusted? Well the obvious one, I imagine, is that the dramatic Twentieth Century warming that people like Al Gore have been banging on about is a crock. At least according to this particular weather station it is.

Now how would you feel if you went and took these temperature records along to one of the world’s leading global warming experts – say Gavin Schmidt at NASA or Phil Jones at CRU or Michael Mann at Penn State – and they studied your records for a moment and said: “This isn’t right.” What if they then crossed out all your temperature measurements, did a few calculations on the back of an envelope, and scribbled in their amendments? And you studied those adjustments and you realised, to your astonishment, that the new, pretend temperature measurements told an entirely different story from the original, real temperature measurements: that where before your records showed a cooling since the 1940s they now showed a warming trend. You’d be gobsmacked, would you not? Yet, incredible though it may seem, the scenario I’ve just described is more or less exactly analogous to what has happened to the raw data from weather stations all over the world.

But the bigger reason, of course, is this: if you make the case that all (or at least a good many) of the world’s surface temperature data records have been wantonly tampered with to the point where they are effectively useless, you are more or less accusing some of the world’s most distinguished (and lavishly funded) scientific institutions of, at best, culpable incompetence and, at worst, outright fraud.

But if this data cannot be trusted, all bets are off. I’m not saying there has been no 2oth century global warming, I think there probably has been, but I don’t honestly know. The worrying part, though, is that neither – it would appear – do the scientists.

Now for really important news.
Ever wondered how Gwyneth Paltrow keeps her energy up at 42-years-young? Well, the secret is out. Paltrow has revealed that she steam cleans her vagina and thinks you should too, ladies.

The actress has elevated her passion for healthy eating and physical fitness by putting her private parts through a new regimen to keep her vivacious.

Apparently, steaming the vagina can provide an “energetic release.” This is why Gwyneth gets regular Mugworth V-Steam treatments at the Tikkun Spa in Santa Monica.

Women in need of an energy booster can have their vaginas steam cleaned for the modest price of $50 a treatment or $200 for a session which includes five.

Maybe I should grab my Hoover steam cleaner and offer mobile services to the Hollywood elite?

A conservative's view of liberals.

I link to the following article as it describes a fairly common view that conservatives have about liberals. Agree or disagree. This viewpoint is out there.
7 Reasons Why Liberals Are Incapable of Understanding The World
Even liberals who've accomplished a lot in their lives and have high IQs often say things on a regular basis that are stunningly, profoundly stupid and at odds with the way the world works. Modern liberalism has become so bereft of common sense and instinctually suicidal that America can only survive over the long haul by thwarting the liberal agenda. In fact, liberalism has become such a toxic and poisonous philosophy that most liberals wouldn't behave differently if their goal were to deliberately destroy the country. So, how does liberalism cause well-meaning, intelligent liberals to get this way? Well, it starts with...

1) Liberalism creates a feedback loop. It is usually impossible for a non-liberal to change a liberal's mind about political issues because liberalism works like so: only liberals are credible sources of information. How do you know someone's liberal? He espouses liberal doctrine. So, no matter how plausible what you say may be, it will be ignored if you're not a liberal and if you are a liberal, of course, you probably agree with liberal views. This sort of close-mindedness makes liberals nearly impervious to any information that might undermine their beliefs.

3) Liberals emphasize feeling superior, not superior results. Liberalism is all about appearances, not outcomes. What matters to liberals is how a program makes them FEEL about themselves, not whether it works or not. Thus a program like Headstart, which sounds good because it's designed to help children read, makes liberals feel good about themselves, even though the program doesn't work and wastes billions. A ban on DDT makes liberals feel good about themselves because they're "protecting the environment" even though millions of people have died as a result. For liberals, it's not what a program does in the real world; it's about whether they feel better about themselves for supporting it.

7) Liberals give themselves far too much credit just for being liberal. To many liberals, all one needs to do to be wise, intelligent, compassionate, open minded, and sensitive is to BE LIBERAL. In other words, many of the good things about a person spring not from his actions, but from the ideology he holds. This has an obvious appeal. You can be a diehard misogynist, but plausibly call yourself a feminist, hate blacks, but accuse others of racism, have a subpar IQ and be an intellectual, give nothing to charity and be compassionate, etc., etc., and all you have to do is call yourself a liberal. It's a shortcut to virtue much like the corrupt old idea of religious indulgences. Why live a life of virtue when you could live a sinful life and buy your way into heaven? If you're a liberal, why actually live a life of virtue when you can merely call yourself a liberal and get credit for being virtuous, even when you've done nothing to earn it?

Union leaders say Obamacare “will destroy the very health and well being of our members.”

Hopey changey.
There’s one part of ObamaCare that even many Democrats hate — the so-called Cadillac tax on generous health plans. It doesn’t go into effect until 2018, but employers know it’s coming and are already cutting health benefits to stay under the Cadillac line. It’s clobbering workers and roiling union negotiations across the country

As far back as 2009, the president said he wanted to penalize “fancy plans that end up driving up costs.” The Affordable Care Act slapped a 40 percent tax on these plans, starting in 2018. Yet it’s not just fancy people who have these plans. Over the years, countless blue-collar and union workers have opted for these generous benefits instead of wage hikes. That’s why AFSCME leader Gerald McEntee blasted Obama’s idea as “bulls - - - -.”

In 2011, ObamaCare architect Jonathan Gruber told a select audience that he thought the administration would get away with the deception by “mislabeling it, calling it a tax on insurance plans rather than a tax on people.” Union leaders weren’t fooled. In July 2013, three large unions, including the Teamsters, sent a letter to congressional Democrats warning that the tax “will destroy the very health and well being of our members.” Recalling Obama’s promise that “if we liked the health plans we have now, we could keep them,” the union leaders were blunt: “We voted for you. We have a problem: You need to fix it.” But Congress didn’t. So now unions going into contract talks are faced with losing their gold-plated health benefits.

Early Mesoamericans affected by climate change
Scientists have reconstructed the past climate for the region around Cantona, a large fortified city in highland Mexico, and found the population drastically declined in the past, at least in part because of climate change. The research appears in the online edition of the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences for the week of Jan. 26.

...model showed that the centennial-scale arid interval between 500 and 1150 was overlaid on a long-term drying trend.

"We found that Cantona's population grew in the initial phases of the drought, but by 1050 AD long-term environmental stress (the drought) contributed to the city's abandonment," Zimmerman and colleagues said. "Our research highlights the interplay of environmental and political factors in past human responses to climate change. Our results suggest that climate change played a contributing role in the site's history," Zimmerman said.

National Weather Service to evaluate work after missed call
A National Weather Service official says the agency will evaluate its storm modeling after a storm that was predicted to dump a foot or more of snow on many parts of New Jersey and the Philadelphia region delivered far less than that.

"You made a lot of tough decisions expecting us to get it right, and we didn't. Once again, I'm sorry," said meteorologist Gary Szatkowski of the NWS.

Bunker says the agency will evaluate what happened to see how it can do better in the future.

AK lawmaker calls Obama "completely whacko"
Watch: Lawmaker Says Obama Has Gone ‘Completely Whacko’ With Alaska Wilderness Decision
Rep. Don Young (R-Alaska) teed off on President Barack Obama on Monday for his attempt to designate millions of acres of land in his home state, a move that Young and others said would make it harder for Alaska to develop its resources. Young joined Sens. Lisa Murkowski (R) and Dan Sullivan (R) in a press conference reacting to Obama’s Sunday announcement. All three said the Obama administration failed to consult with Alaska’s congressional delegation at all.

“King George Obama really believes he didn’t have to acknowledge laws that were passed by the Congress,” Young said. “He’s done this on numerous occasions. He ignores us, he lectures the legislative body, ‘you’re not important, I’m the king.’ “

“Disgusting for the nation, disgusting for the people,” Young added. “This man, this person has gone completely whacko. This is an attack upon the state, attack upon previous laws, attack upon the nation.”

Obama gives Iran $12 billion

Oh goodie. Obama sure is taking a tough stance with the murderous Islamo-Nazi regime. Obama and potatoface have Iran wrapped around their little fingers now. Obama's foreign policy is "give our enemies money and anything else they want and get nothing in return".
U.S. to Award Iran $11.9 Billion Through End of Nuke Talks
Another $490 million released on Tuesday under deal
The Obama administration on Wednesday paid $490 million in cash assets to Iran and will have released a total of $11.9 billion to the Islamic Republic by the time nuclear talks are scheduled to end in June, according to figures provided by the State Department.

Today’s $490 million release, the third such payment of this amount since Dec. 10, was agreed to by the Obama administration under the parameters of another extension in negotiations over Tehran’s contested nuclear program that was inked in November. Iran will receive a total of $4.9 billion in unfrozen cash assets via 10 separate payments by the United States through June 22, when talks with Iran are scheduled to end with a final agreement aimed at curbing the country’s nuclear work, according to a State Department official.

Iran has continued to enrich uranium under the interim deal, adding what one critic, Rep. Brad Sherman (D., Calif.) referred to as “about one bomb’s worth” to its reserves. Iran also has continued to make advances on the plutonium track, which provides it with a second path to a nuclear bomb. President Hassan Rouhani of Iran announced last week that the country has begun constructing two new light water nuclear reactors, a move that the U.S. State Department said is permissible under the terms of the interim agreement.
