Debunking gun control memes.
HOUSTON (KTRK) -- As Houston's murder rate climbs for the second year in a row, abc13's investigative team went straight to prison to get answers on how to bring it down. Is there anything police or lawmakers can do to make it tougher for them to kill?

To get our data, we sent surveys to every killer who used a gun to murder someone in Harris County since 2014. We wanted to know how they got their gun, what they paid, and how often, if ever, they went through a background check. Our results are far from a scientific study, but the answers are fairly shocking.

The current gun control debate most often focuses on expanded background checks and 'assault weapon' bans. Neither strategy would seem to help limit access at least to our survey recipients.

Nearly 90 percent of our survey respondents got their weapons outside the legal regulated gun market. None shopped at a gun show - and most traded for their weapons or got them from a friend for free.

Many were previously convicted and knew they wouldn't pass federally mandated background checks. Others suggested they would never put a family member in a position to buy a gun for them since the penalty for that so-called 'straw purchase' is severe.

One more reason to vote for Trump
Survey: 35% of federal workers may consider leaving their jobs if Trump wins
A new broom sweeps clean in Washington when it comes to cabinet heads and appointed officials, but what about all of the millions of federal workers on the government payroll? Their jobs are supposed to be apolitical and largely independent of which party controls the White House or the chambers of Congress. According to a new survey conducted by Government Executive, a significant number of these workers are signaling that they might “reconsider their career in government service” if Donald Trump moves in to the West Wing.

817,740 illegals crossed last year

'Critical alert,' 817,740 illegals crossed last year
In a bid to put the issue of illegal immigration back into the presidential debate, outspoken critic Sen. Jeff Sessions on Monday issued a "Critical Alert" warning of a potentially historic surge of over the border.

"We are simply overwhelmed," his statement said. In it he estimated the Fiscal Year 2016 illegal crossings at 817,740.

"There is a crisis at our southwest border — one that in many ways exceeds the crisis we saw just two years ago, one that further undermines the integrity of our immigration system, but one that the most of the media has elected to ignore," said Sessions, an advisor to Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump.

The Next ‘Little Ice Age’ Is Already Here
The Next ‘Little Ice Age’ Is Already Here, Russian Scientist Claims
A new study by a prominent Russian astrophysicist claims the “new Little Ice Age” started at the end of 2015 due to low solar activity, kicking off decades of “deep cooling” in the latter half of the 21st Century.

“As a result, the Earth has, and will continue to have, a negative average annual energy balance and a long-term adverse thermal condition,” Dr. Habibullo Abdussamatov, who is the head of space research for the Pulkovo Observatory at the Russian Academy of Sciences, wrote in a recent study.

“The quasi-centennial epoch of the new Little Ice Age has started at the end 2015 after the maximum phase of solar cycle 24,” Abdussamatov wrote. “The start of a solar grand minimum is anticipated in solar cycle 27 in 2043 and the beginning of phase of deep cooling in the new Little Ice Age in 2060.”

Australia to Ban Illegal Migrants Forever

An excellent policy. We should adopt the same policy here. Though I would impose the ban on children as well.
Asylum seekers who come by boat banned for life under new laws
Asylum seekers who attempt to reach Australia by boat will never be allowed to enter the country, even if they are genuine refugees and seek to come as tourists decades later, under legislation to be introduced by Immigration Minister Peter Dutton when Parliament returns.

The lifetime ban would apply to all adults detained at the Manus Island or Nauru detention centres from July 19, 2013 - including those who have chosen to return home. Children who were brought by their parents or unaccompanied would be exempt.

Mr Dutton signalled the measure was partly designed to stop refugees from marrying Australians and subsequently coming to the country on a partner visa, which he deemed "not acceptable".

Another total coincidence:
The political organization of Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe, an influential Democrat with longstanding ties to Bill and Hillary Clinton, gave nearly $500,000 to the election campaign of the wife of an official at the Federal Bureau of Investigation who later helped oversee the investigation into Mrs. Clinton’s email use. Campaign finance records show Mr. McAuliffe’s political-action committee donated $467,500 to the 2015 state Senate campaign of Dr. Jill McCabe, who is married to Andrew McCabe, now the deputy director of the FBI.

The Virginia Democratic Party, over which Mr. McAuliffe exerts considerable control, donated an additional $207,788 worth of support to Dr. McCabe’s campaign in the form of mailers, according to the records. That adds up to slightly more than $675,000 to her candidacy from entities either directly under Mr. McAuliffe’s control or strongly influenced by him.

That looks bad, but at least it’s not as if the husband of the presidential candidate under investigation got caught secretly meeting with the top law enforcement official in the land. Oh wait.

Why should you vote for Hillary Clinton?

I'd have to say it is for her accomplishments.

Celebrate World Patriarchy Day
Below are a few of the ways that Milo suggested to celebrate WPD.

Have a penis.
Shoot something. But not MIlo, or yourself
Flirt with every female member of retail staff you encounter. They tell you they hate it, but they’d die without it.
Cat-call at least five women.
Say no to new shoes.
Play video games.
Tell a woman why she’s wrong (but be sure to hold the door open for her as she leaves).
Buy a truck.
Vote Republican.
Leave the seat up.
Don’t call her back.
Drink beer
If you have female employees, refer to them exclusively as “darling.” All day.
Get yourself banned from the Jezebel comments section.

The Media: "Everyone Hates You And You Lie"

Global Warming Policy Foundation lecture

Doomers are losing on all sides. As usual liberal 'solutions' are not solutions at all. Especially when you are trying to fix a hoax.
And here is the maddest thing of all. Current policy is not even achieving decarbonisation. Whatever your views on the urgency of reducing emissions, the policy of subsidizing renewable energy is not achieving it.

Switching to biodiesel or ethanol actually increases emissions. So does burning wood in power stations. So does solar power in cloudy Germany. So do wind farms because they prevent the replacement of coal by gas or nuclear.

In 2012 Bjorn Lomborg calculated that 20 years of climate policy had reduced global emissions by less than 1 percent. During that time the world had spent more than a trillion dollars to subsidise wind and solar power, yet between them they had still not achieved 1% of world energy provision. In this country, they have just passed 2%.

In Germany, a 20% increase in renewables between 1999 and 2014 has resulted in no change in emissions at all.

Testifying to Congress in 2014, Professor Judith Curry, chair of Earth Sciences at Georgia Tech University said:

“Motivated by the precautionary principle to avoid dangerous anthropogenic climate change, attempts to modify the climate through reducing CO2 emissions may turn out to be futile.”
