Ex Republican Governor, friend of Rudy G calls on trump to RESIGN donald trump

https://politicalwire.com/2018/07/17/ex-republican-governor-calls-on-trump-to-resign/

Former New Jersey Gov. Christine Todd Whitman (R) called on President Trump to resign after he refused to stand up to Russian president Vladimir Putin over election meddling.

Said Whitman: “Mr President, you should be ashamed. To deny your own country and government in favor of a foreign leader whose country has, for decades, tried to undermine the United States is irrational and dangerous. Please step down, you are not fit to lead this great nation.”

"either way, it is clear trump is willing to sell out American Democracy for his personal gain"

Trump Shows the World He’s Putin’s Lackey
Maybe the president is exactly as compromised as he looks.
(c) Michelle Goldberg
Michelle Goldberg: “While I was as shocked as everyone else, I shouldn’t have been. Trump’s behavior on Monday recalled his outburst at Trump Tower after the violent white supremacist rally in Charlottesville, when he insisted there were ‘very fine people’ among the racist demonstrators. Both times, everything Trump said was in keeping with things he’d said before. The shocking part was his frankness. Then, as now, it forced, if just for a moment, a collective apprehension of just what a repulsive abomination this presidency is.”
“It’s always been obvious that Trump does not hold Russia’s hacking of the 2016 election, which he publicly encouraged and gleefully benefited from, against Putin. None of us yet know the exact contours of Trump’s relationship with Russia, whether Putin is his handler, his co-conspirator or just his hero. But it’s clear that Trump is willing to sell out American democracy for personal gain.”

Senator John McCain rips into trump re: trump/Putin press conference July 16, 2018

Here is the statement from Senator McCain's Senate site in it's entirety

https://www.mccain.senate.gov/public/index.cfm/press-releases?ID=A99FDA26-673D-4560-B4EA-5AEDF0685EC5

Today’s press conference in Helsinki was one of the most disgraceful performances by an American president in memory. The damage inflicted by President Trump’s naiveté, egotism, false equivalence, and sympathy for autocrats is difficult to calculate. But it is clear that the summit in Helsinki was a tragic mistake.

President Trump proved not only unable, but unwilling to stand up to Putin. He and Putin seemed to be speaking from the same script as the president made a conscious choice to defend a tyrant against the fair questions of a free press, and to grant Putin an uncontested platform to spew propaganda and lies to the world.

It is tempting to describe the press conference as a pathetic rout – as an illustration of the perils of under-preparation and inexperience. But these were not the errant tweets of a novice politician. These were the deliberate choices of a president who seems determined to realize his delusions of a warm relationship with Putin’s regime without any regard for the true nature of his rule, his violent disregard for the sovereignty of his neighbors, his complicity in the slaughter of the Syrian people, his violation of international treaties, and his assault on democratic institutions throughout the world.

Coming close on the heels of President Trump’s bombastic and erratic conduct towards our closest friends and allies in Brussels and Britain, today’s press conference marks a recent low point in the history of the American Presidency. That the president was attended in Helsinki by a team of competent and patriotic advisors makes his blunders and capitulations all the more painful and inexplicable.

No prior president has ever abased himself more abjectly before a tyrant. Not only did President Trump fail to speak the truth about an adversary; but speaking for America to the world, our president failed to defend all that makes us who we are—a republic of free people dedicated to the cause of liberty at home and abroad. American presidents must be the champions of that cause if it is to succeed. Americans are waiting and hoping for President Trump to embrace that sacred responsibility. One can only hope they are not waiting totally in vain.

Two Explanations for Trumps Shameful Press Conference

https://politicalwire.com/2018/07/16/two-explanations-for-trumps-shameful-press-conference/

James Fallows: “Either Donald Trump is flat-out an agent of Russian interests—witting, unwitting, from fear of blackmail, in hope of future deals, out of manly respect for Vladimir Putin, out of gratitude for Russia’s help during the election, out of pathetic inability to see beyond his 306 electoral votes—whatever the exact mixture of motives might be, it doesn’t really matter.”

“Or he is so profoundly ignorant, insecure, and narcissistic not to realize that, at every step, he was advancing the line that Putin hoped he would advance, and the line that the American intelligence, defense, and law-enforcement agencies most dreaded.”

“Conscious tool. Useful idiot. Those are the choices, though both possibly true—the main question is the proportions.”

Nancy Pelosi is still cool. Great movie Nancy made. Now it's on to November and V for victory

Meanwhile classic semi-final in England
5th set
18-18 now 6 hours Anderson-Iselin
with a hard 11pm end for whenever Nadal's match starts

but great chess play Nancy. You always have the moves.

Paul Manafort keeps losing and whining and wants to delay his trial...

as long as he is where he is, why not delay the start of trial say 25 to life?

Alexandria Ocasio Cortez is so popular (think Gene Rayburn & the Match Game)-

How popular is SHE?

Alexandria Ocasio Cortez is so popular that people in another district in the Bronx wrote her name on
the ballots of a special election, that SHE won, with no prompting or campaigning in yesterdays election.

Flattering as it was, of course Alexandria said she would not accept that nomination.
