Day 229 COOL! Robert Mueller Teams Up w/ New York Attorney General Schneiderman

Wow, It's like a team of Eliot Ness and Perry Mason

Special counsel Robert Mueller's team is working with New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman on its investigation into Paul Manafort and his financial transactions, Politico reports.

The cooperation is the latest indication that the federal probe into President Trump;s former campaign chairman is intensifying. It also could potentially provide Mueller with additional leverage to get Manafort to cooperate in the larger investigation into Trump's campaign, as Trump does not have pardon power over state crimes.

Elton John 5th Avenue from the deluxe version of the album Diving Board 2013

This later day Elton song was recorded but not included on the basic 10 tracks of the "Diving Board" album
but was on the deluxe Target version

the album was one of only two that did not have any of Elton's band members on it

for some reason this song reminds me of someone
partial lyrics-

(c) Elton John/ Bernie Taupin

I thought I saw someone I knew
Turned out to be no one but you
Something borrowed, something blue
Ducked in a doorway on 5th Avenue

All my crimes come back to haunt me
Every building seems to judge
Standing tall and looking down
Like fingers pointing from above
On 5th Avenue, on 5th Avenue
The party's over on 5th Avenue

Fortune finds the chosen few
Fools just find someone like you
Build a bank, or you buy a zoo
Monkeys and money on 5th Avenue

Snow falls on 5th Avenue
Your old man is on the evening news
Hard to believe how far he flew
Down, all the way down to 5th Avenue

Day 225 trump w/ lowest ratings of all time creates diversion by pardoning joe

which reeks of being done by defacto day to day handler Bannon to divert attention from the
dismal news this week of his numbers and of the tick tock of the clock
both with the investigation into trumpINC by Mueller and by more and more people fleeing from trump
for his deplorable statement about Charlottesville and more and more people in Congress and
other elected officials questioning out loud if indeed trump is unfit and illegit.

trump pardoning joe says it all of things of importance

yet another dog whistle

that's my opinion

Day 224 donald trump a vanity production applause applause applause

for this thread-

Los Angeles Times: “Unabashedly proclaiming his desire for a second term, Trump filed the paperwork establishing his 2020 reelection committee the day he took office and has already started fundraising, years before his predecessors began raking in cash. He has trampled protocol and turned explicitly nonpolitical events, like the Boy Scouts’ national jamboree, into replicas of his roisterous campaign stops.”

“Perhaps most significantly, Trump has transformed the bully pulpit — the president’s ability to rally the country in pursuit of his goals — into a sort of vanity project, staging events not to advance any substantive agenda but to vent and, as aides admit, bask in the adulation of supportive audiences.”

“He obviously loves the thrill of the crowd,” said Julian Zelizer, a political historian and presidential expert at Princeton University. “But it’s not connected to some bigger agenda or ideological worldview that he’s espousing. It’s about the act of campaigning, which gives him juice.”

The crowd of several hundred cheered and jeered, some turning on the assembled press corps with middle fingers raised.

I find the OP very interesting, not surprisingly not a surprise or a shock but very interesting

but I haven't heard anyone say the above 6 things listed in response #2
I know I never did.

one thing trump can't do is the delightful interviews Nixon and Frost had.
I found those fascinating, at how SMART both Nixon and Frost were
that is one thing no one ever accused trump of being nor will anyone in the future.

and that too makes me smile.
like the Spassky-Fischer chess match also in the Nixon days

Ahh Day 222 I'm SHOCKED!!! Shocked I tell you!!! Is this the reason for the diversion??? .

while everyone is looking up and sideways, look at this...sneaking around the bend...

Trump Campaign Apparently Met with Russian Spy
“Rinat Akhmetshin, a Russian immigrant who met last summer with senior Trump campaign officials, has often struck colleagues as a classic Washington mercenary — loyal to his wife, his daughter and his bank account. He avoided work that would antagonize Moscow, they suggested, only because he profited from his reputation as a man with valuable connections there,” the New York Times reports.
“But interviews with his associates and documents… indicate that Mr. Akhmetshin, who is under scrutiny by the special counsel Robert Mueller, has much deeper ties to the Russian government… He has an association with a former deputy head of a Russian spy service, the F.S.B., and a history of working for close allies of President Vladimir V. Putin. Twice, he has worked on legal battles for Russian tycoons whose opponents suffered sophisticated hacking attacks, arousing allegations of computer espionage.”
Jonathan Chait: “Of all the facts in the Russia scandal, this one seems the most underplayed. Email hacking is one of Akhmetshin’s basic methods of operation. The Trump campaign met with a Russian spy who is known for pulling the exact kind of crime that was committed in this case.”

Rest in Power Dick Gregory. Civil Rights Activist, friend of Dr. King, comic dies. Rest in Power

Rest in Power Dick Gregory

there is a bit in paragraph 7 that is must read.
Not sure if it should be printed out but it starts with
"One oft-told Dick Gregory bit... (in the following article-
Dick Gregory, pioneering comedian, author and civil rights activist, died Saturday at the age of 84

"It is with enormous sadness that the Gregory family confirms that their father, comedic legend and civil rights activist Mr. Dick Gregory departed this earth tonight in Washington, DC," Gregory's son Christian wrote on the comedian's Instagram page. "The family appreciates the outpouring of support and love and respectfully asks for their privacy as they grieve during this very difficult time."

In the early Sixties, Gregory became a fixture of the Civil Rights Movement: He marched with Martin Luther King, Jr. at Selma, where he and his wife were briefly jailed, he told the Chicago Tribune. He was friends with Malcolm X and Medgar Evers and ran for mayor of Chicago in 1967.

although it might hurt the Democratic party, I am not selfish and thinking of country over party,
would accept Hatch, Mitt, Tom Kean Sr., even pence as tempPresident until a new President is elected in 2020

These are not normal times.
The man in the White House is reckless and unmanageable, a danger to the Constitution, a threat to our democratic institutions.

Last week some of his worst qualities were on display: his moral vacuity and his disregard for the truth, as well as his stubborn resistance to sensible advice. As ever, he lashed out at imaginary enemies and scapegoated others for his own failings. Most important, his reluctance to offer a simple and decisive condemnation of racism and Nazism astounded and appalled observers around the world.

With such a glaring failure of moral leadership at the top, it is desperately important that others stand up and speak out to defend American principles and values. This is no time for neutrality, equivocation or silence. Leaders across America and especially those in the presidents own party must summon their reserves of political courage to challenge President Trump publicly, loudly and unambiguously.

Enough is enough.

Day220d 15000 peaceful anti-posters to few dozen conservative nationalists. Love wins again.

Wow! 15,000 to a few dozen who answered the call.
If only the elections were today, nationwide I bet the vote totals would be similar with
the Democratic party winning by that same percentage nationwide.
Love trumps hate trumps trump's defacto-President Bannon and a major eye-opener for Steve Bannon to look at.
In the homestate of the beloved Deval Patrick, Senator Elizabeth Warren and birthstate of Michael Bloomberg.

in the 50th anniversary of the Summer of Love

BOSTON — Thousands of demonstrators chanting anti-Nazi slogans converged Saturday on downtown Boston in a boisterous repudiation of white nationalism, dwarfing a small group of conservatives who cut short their planned "free speech rally" a week after a gathering of hate groups led to bloodshed in Virginia.

An estimated 15,000 counterprotesters marched through the city to historic Boston Common, where many gathered near a bandstand abandoned early by conservatives who had planned to deliver a series of speeches.

Opponents feared that white nationalists might show up in Boston anyway, raising the specter of ugly confrontations in the first potentially large and racially charged gathering in a major U.S. city since Charlottesville. But only a few dozen conservatives turned out for the rally on historic Boston Common — in stark contrast to the estimated 15,000 counterprotesters — and the conservatives abruptly left early.

Yet Saturday's showdown was mostly peaceable, and after demonstrators dispersed, a picnic atmosphere took over with stragglers tossing beach balls, banging on bongo drums and playing reggae music
