Is there room in a patriot's heart for two flags?

When I hear the Star Spangled Banner and hear "our flag was still there" I still sometimes get goosebumps. The American flag is my only flag. It's nice to have a flag. Just one.

Should people have to buy an MD education?

I'll be honest. I don't think it makes sense to force any qualified person to pay for higher education. But an MD?

Should you have to pay hundreds of thousands of dollars to gain the knowledge needed to serve the health care needs of others? That seems like a good way not to have a lot of MDs, raising the cost of healthcare and lowering its availability. It also seems like a good way to get mediocre, low quality doctors. The brilliant poor or middle class kid goes into something that costs less like engineering while the less-than-brilliant rich kid can afford to go to Med School.

To Help US Veterans Charity, George W. Bush Charged $100,000

Former President George W. Bush charged $100,000 to speak at a charity fundraiser for U.S. military veterans severely wounded in Iraq and Afghanistan, and former First Lady Laura Bush collected $50,000 to appear a year earlier, officials of the Texas-based Helping a Hero charity confirmed to ABC News.

The former President was also provided with a private jet to travel to Houston at a cost of $20,000, the officials said.

Yeesh. Kinda speaks for itself, this one. What is there to say?

And the charity is run by Republican "bundler" Meredith Iler. I was wondering what kind of organization would pay to hear George W. Bush speak.

Should the Republicans surrender to the United States?

It seems the Republican Party has taken the Southern Civil War heritage upon itself. Why defend that heritage, Republicans? It was wrong. You know that, right? Slavery was what it was all about. It was just wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong. No escaping it. It's a fact. Face it.

Why not renew your vows to the United States of America? Good Republicans, let's dump the Civil War asshole Republicans. They and their flag can go straight to Hell. Let's be a United States of America again. I thought we were that already, but let's just make damned sure we are.

Good Republicans and independents, simply vote Democrat until the Republican Party drives out all secessionist and racist sentiment. Make the water in that party run clean. The Republican flag needs to come down from public areas, and it needs to come down from its place of honor in the soul of the Republican Party.
