Visited DU today?

Seems they are having hack/spam issues. I get redirected to some youtube video showing Trump in a car with a gun pointed at you and then some speech from the Statue of Liberty.

And interesting article about conceal carry holders. Most law abiding people.

Concealed-carry permit holders are nearly the most law-abiding demographic of Americans, a new report by the Crime Prevention Research Center says—comparing the permit holders foremost with police.

“Indeed, it is impossible to think of any other group in the U.S. that is anywhere near as law-abiding,” says the report, titled “Concealed Carry Permit Holders Across the United States 2016.”

From 2007 through 2015, permits issued by state and local governments increased by 215 percent, to more than 14 million Americans, according to the data.

Quite a busy Memorial weekend for the police in Chicago.

Four people were killed and at least 53 more wounded in shootings over Memorial Day weekend as Chicago neared the end of a particularly deadly month.

The latest homicides, which included a 15-year-old girl killed as she rode in a vehicle on North Lake Shore Drive with two older men whom police described as gang members, means at least 60 people were shot and killed this month as May saw summer like levels of gun violence.

The City really needs to take the streets back from the gangs. Maybe lock them up and throw away the keys?

I watched the last two episodes of X-Files, enjoyed them (used to watch the old series), so I sat down to watch tonight's episode and all I can say Run away. Fast. Wife and I were looking at each other and couldn''t believe how bad it was.

Things keep going bad for the prosecutors in the Freddie Gray trial.

Judge Barry G. Williams denied a request by prosecutors to force Baltimore Police Officer William G. Porter to testify against three of his fellow officers in the arrest and death of Freddie Gray.

The ruling Wednesday removes the specter of a postponement in the three officers' cases pending an appeal Porter has before the Court of Special Appeals, which is considering whether a previous ruling by Williams forcing Porter to testify in two other officers' trials should stand.

Williams also granted an injunction requested by Porter to postpone the trial of Sgt. Alicia White — along with the trial of Officer Caesar Goodson — pending the higher court's ruling. Goodson's trial was already postponed by a stay from the higher court.

Seems this is what happens when you rush with indictments to appease folks. First case was a hung jury, wonder how the next one with this ruling will go.

FBI official: 'Perfect storm' imperiling gun background checks

"CLARKSBURG, W.Va. — The surge of criminal background checks required of new gun purchasers has been so unrelenting in recent months that the FBI had been forced to temporarily halt the processing of thousands of appeals from prospective buyers whose firearm purchase attempts have been denied.

Since October, the bureau’s entire cadre of appeal examiners— about 70 analysts — was redeployed here to help keep pace with waves of incoming background investigations that continued through December when a record 3.3 million firearm sales were processed.

The transfer of examiners, which had left a backlog of 7,100 appeals, is only part of a makeshift reorganization that FBI Assistant Director Stephen Morris said has become necessary to handle a burgeoning workload that expands in the wake of every mass shooting and call for increased gun control that invariably prompt firearms sales binges across the country."

Seems the more that the gun controllers talk, the more firearms get bought.

CNN now reporting what Obama's speech will be.

Think the DNC is thinking if he doesn't act Hillary/Sanders might have a problem next year?

Washington (CNN)President Barack Obama will try to reassure a nervous nation on Sunday that he has a plan to defeat the fast-evolving threat of terrorism, as fears multiply of ISIS attacks on the homeland and public trust in his handling of the threat has dipped to record lows.

Obama's rare 8 p.m. ET Oval Office address reflects growing anxiety that the global showdown with the extremist group has now spread to U.S. soil following a mass shooting in San Bernardino, California, that authorities are treating as terrorism.

His appearance comes at a time of public disquiet over terrorism and a political debate over the threat, now consuming the 2016 campaign, raging at levels not seen since the aftermath of the September 11 attacks in 2001. Obama has also struggled to convince critics he has a viable strategy for destroying ISIS in the Middle East and has been accused of downplaying the threat from the group for political reasons.

CNN Terrible reporting

Anybody watching CNN? On the bottom it is scrolling that the San Bernardino killers altered the AR-15 to be fully automatic. Then the guy telling the story says the pin that makes you load an AR-15 thru the magazine (California law) was removed allowing larger magazines. That makes it an automatic firearm.

Do you think Obama is banging his head on his desk mumbling because he might just

have to finally come out say that this terrorist attack in California was carried out by radicalized Muslims?

Ok, completed my first AR-15 build.

If you recall, about a month ago I posted that I wanted to do my first build and lots of people gave me good web sites to browse. I've finished the first one, it is in .300 Blackout. Have the other lower finished. It will be in 6.8 SPC. I was amazed how easily it was able to build. Plus I was watching a step by step video on Youtube will building it. The handguard appears to have a purplish hue, but that is just from the picture. It's black. Haven't made it to the range yet.
