Toilet seat: Up or Down?

What started out as a curtesy in our family has turned into a bone of contention. What was once voluntary has become mandatory. What I'm talking about is should a male lower a toilet seat after relieving himself. I'm of firm belief that a toilet seat is not a complicated mechanism. I've offered to instruct all the females in my family on the mechanics of toilet seat movement so they too may become skilled at raising and lowering. They insist it's my responsibility to lower the seat.

The females seem to believe it's my obligation to prepare the facilities for their next use. I've explained to them, should I require a dump in the middle of the night the first thing I do is turn on the light. I then, without hesitation, look clearly at the bowl to determine whether I need to lower the seat and respond accordingly. Not difficult.

I maintain most people will agree with me that it is not a male's responsibility to lower a toilet seat for a female's next use. What do you say? (I have money riding on this poll)

Does a male have the responsibility to lower a toilet seat after use?

The Belt and Road Initiative: Is this what's making Republicans anti-Chinese?

The Guardian, 5-11-2017

" The $900bn question: What is the Belt and Road initiative? "

" It’s a confusing title but it could turn out to be the largest ever infrastructure project with close to a trillion dollars being invested across the globe "
…………..

" In concrete terms, the Belt and Road initiative is an immensely ambitious development campaign through which China wants to boost trade and stimulate economic growth across Asia and beyond. It hopes to do so by building massive amounts of infrastructure connecting it to countries around the globe. By some estimates, China plans to pump $150bn into such projects each year. In a report released at the start of this year, ratings agency Fitch said an extraordinary $900bn in projects were planned or underway. "
……………

" According to the global consultancy McKinsey, the plan has the potential to massively overshadow the US’ post-war Marshall reconstruction plan, involving about 65% of the world’s population, one-third of its GDP and helping to move about a quarter of all its goods and services. Some describe Xi’s scheme as the biggest development push in history. "

Democrats: Would you vote for John Brennan for President?

CNN Politics, 8-18-2018

" Washington (CNN) — Former CIA Director John Brennan criticized President Donald Trump on Friday for revoking his security clearance and said the President is "drunk on power."

"The fact that he's using a security clearance of a former CIA director as a pawn in his public relations strategy I think is just so reflective of somebody who, quite frankly, I don't want to use this term maybe, but he's drunk on power. He really is, and I think he's abusing the powers of that office," Brennan told MSNBC's Rachel Maddow during an interview. "
………..

" He went on to say, "Are the Republicans on the Hill who have given him a pass -- are they going to wait for a disaster to happen before they actually find their backbones and spines to speak up against somebody who clearly, clearly, is not carrying out his responsibilities with any sense of purpose and common sense from the standpoint of national security?" "Drunk on Power"..." (country) is in a crisis in terms of what Mr. Trump has done and is liable to do." "...no collusion, "hogwash"...

John Brennan has come to the defense of our nation as no one else has. Anyone willing to kick Republican and Trump ass like John Brennan has to be our man. Look no further, we've found the next President of the United States, the honorable super patriot, John Brennan.

Should there be a political litmus test applied before intel experts share their views?

Axios, 8-17-2018

" Over 70 former intel officers and leaders denounce Trump's threat to revoke clearances "

" Their statement goes on to explain, "Our signatures below do not necessarily mean that we concur with the opinions expressed by former Director Brennan or the way in which he expressed them. What they do represent, however, is our firm belief that the country will be weakened if there is a political litmus test applied before seasoned experts are allowed to share their views." "

Should these 12 former intel officials have their security clearances revoke too?

The Hill, 8-16-2018

" 12 former top intel officials blast Trump's move to revoke Brennan's security clearance "

" Twelve former top U.S. intelligence officials on Thursday condemned President Trump's decision to revoke the security clearance of former CIA Director John Brennan calling it a blatant attempt to stifle Brennan's criticism.

In a statement of support reported by multiple outlets, a dozen former officials including CIA directors dating back to the 1980s declared that "security clearances should be based on national security concerns and not political views." "
…………….

" "We have never before seen the approval or removal of security clearances used as a political tool, as was done in this case," they added. "Beyond that, this action is quite clearly a signal to other current and former officials." "

If Republican/Russian election collusion is proven should Democrats seek collusion with China?

Vox, 8-14-2018

" MSNBC’s Katy Tur asked the former White House and Trump campaign staffer whether Donald Trump knew about hacked Democratic emails before they were publicly released during the 2016 — and Omarosa responded, “Absolutely.”

Tur followed up: “He knew what was coming out before WikiLeaks released them?” And Omarosa said, “Yes.” "

" The question of whether Trump’s associates coordinated with Russia or WikiLeaks over the release of hacked Democratic emails in 2016 looms large over the Mueller investigation. "

Do 'predator priests' create a Catholic image problem?

CNN, 8-15-2018

" (CNN) — A new grand jury report says that internal documents from six Catholic dioceses in Pennsylvania show that more than 300 "predator priests" have been credibly accused of sexually abusing more than 1,000 child victims.

"We believe that the real number of children whose records were lost or who were afraid ever to come forward is in the thousands," the grand jury report says.

"Priests were raping little boys and girls, and the men of God who were responsible for them not only did nothing; they hid it all. For decades. Monsignors, auxiliary bishops, bishops, archbishops, cardinals have mostly been protected; many, including some named in this report, have been promoted." "

Is President Trump an incompetent low-life amateur president?

CNN Politics, 8-14-2018

" (CNN) — On Monday, President Donald Trump sent seven -- yes, seven! -- tweets attacking his former aide Omarosa Manigault Newman over claims she made in her tell-all memoir that was formally released today.

He followed that tweet-rant with this shot at Omarosa on Tuesday morning: "When you give a crazed, crying lowlife a break, and give her a job at the White House, I guess it just didn't work out. Good work by General Kelly for quickly firing that dog!"

Eight tweets in 24 hours -- all about Omarosa. Eight tweets in which Trump refers to Omarosa, an African-American woman and former White House employee, as, among other things, a "dog," "wacky," "deranged," a "crazed, crying lowlife," "vicious" and "not smart." "

This is the President of the United States we're talking about, the leader of the free world. Eight tweets in 24 hours of pure unadulterated name-calling. Name-calling you'd smack an eight year old for doing. President Trump is a joke and not a good joke either. He's no longer funny, he's outright dangerous.

Is President Trump an incompetent low-life amateur president?
