Doing your science homework using the Bible

I find this fascinating because it is a well thought out, well presented argument for a flat earth based solely on evidence from the Bible by, from what I can tell, a true believer. If one is to presume that the Bible is literally true, one can argue against this gentleman but he sure presents a hell of a good argument. It truly illustrates the dangers and fallacies of depending on the Bible as one’s primary source of reality.

PSA for Creationnists

In rebutting scientific arguments in geology, astrophysics, palaeontology, genetics, history, etc., save time and energy. Don't waste your time going to Answers in Genesis or the Institute for Creation Research, don't go seeking out rebuttals by jailbird Kent Hovind or Carl Baugh or Ken Ham, and most of all don't bother reading the original science. Here's a time-saving tip for you. Just respond: God did it. And, if you're in a hurry to get to church, you can make your response even quicker by simply using the acronym GDI.

New Transitional Form Identified: CDesign Proponentsists

Astonishing new developments have come to light that further validates Darwin's theories on natural selection in the form of a transitional form of the book, Of Pandas and People.

While two defendants in the Kitzmiller, et. al. vs Dover School Board testified under oath that forty copies of the book had sprung sui generis, completely intact at the Dover High School, in a blow to the Intelligent Design theory on the book's origin, their testimony was later discredited. In court, it was revealed that defendants themselves had solicited money for the purchase of the fully evolved book and attempted to cover their tracks by having one of their daddies (it should be noted that it was not their Sky Daddy) buy the book and ship it to the school. While this may be proof enough for some that the book did not spring forth complete from the hands of an Intelligent Designer, further proof emerged to support the evolution theory of the book's development.

Two manuscripts were discovered from the late 1980s that clearly prove the evolutionary nature of the book. Both manuscripts are virtually identical with the following exceptions. "Creationism" was replaced by "Intelligent Design," "Creator" was replaced with "Designer" and "Creationists" was replaced by "Design Proponents." While this to many would be proof enough, inquiring minds wondered if a transitional form between the book's Creationist pedigree to its new Intelligent Design form existed.

Now we can announce that indeed a transitional form does exist -- the CDesign Proponentsists!!! Exciting stuff indeed!!!!! It appears that the mutation from "Creationists" to "Design Proponents" accomplished though the find-and-replace function of the word processor created an intermediate form, the CDesign Proponentsists.

Even further validating Darwinism, we have identified the environmental factors that triggered this exciting development in the evolution of the book -- Edwards v. Aguillard.

What if? What if Greek and Roman traditions had not been infected with ME mysticism?

Tacitus, respected Senator and Historian, is often used by Christian apologists as a non-Biblical proof of Christ’s existence as he mentions him in his writings. Given that Tacitus was governor of Asia in the late first century this is of little surprise. However, moreso than any other writer, Tacitus brings to life the loss that mankind has suffered through the surpression if Greek and Roman rationality by the elevation of a desert-based primitive mysticism.

“Publius (or Gaius) Cornelius Tacitus (/ˈtæsɪtəs/; Classical Latin: ; c. 56 – c. 120 AD) was a senator and a historian of the Roman Empire. The surviving portions of his two major works—the Annals and the Histories—examine the reigns of the Roman emperors Tiberius, Claudius, Nero, and those who reigned in the Year of the Four Emperors (69 AD). These two works span the history of the Roman Empire from the death of Augustus, in 14 AD, to the years of the First Jewish–Roman War, in 70 AD. There are substantial lacunae in the surviving texts, including a gap in the Annals that is four books long.”

“Consequently, to get rid of the report, Nero fastened the guilt and inflicted the most exquisite tortures on a class hated for their abominations, called Christians by the populace. Christus, from whom the name had its origin, suffered the extreme penalty during the reign of Tiberius at the hands of one of our procurators, Pontius Pilatus, and a most mischievous superstition, thus checked for the moment, again broke out not only in Judæa, the first source of the evil, but even in Rome, where all things hideous and shameful from every part of the world find their centre and become popular.”

The scientific method v Biblical divination

While I had heard of pseudogenes in the past, I had not run across this particular example. In short, these are genes present in a wide variety of organisms and encoding the same functionality which are “turned off” in some species. The specific example discussed here is the ability to synthesise vitamin c, a trait for which humans have these “turned off” genes.

So I googled “pseudogenes vitamin c” and was presented with a number of articles, blogs, and videos. As it happened, a real scientific paper was returned immediately next to a paper from everyone’s favourite, ICR. So I decided to read and compare both and that simple exercise revealed everything you need to know about the difference between science and Creationism. Below I present, for your amusement, the conclusions of each article.

“The neutrality of vitamin C loss is a function of the environment in which species lives. Individuals from a species which have lost the ability to make their own vitamin C will not be selected against as long as their diet contains sufficient quantities of vitamin C. This is why the function of the GLO gene has been lost repeatedly during evolution. However, individuals from such a species will develop scurvy if their diet changes so as to no longer contain sufficient amounts of vitamin C. Such diet changes occurred repeatedly during human history, causing the death of millions of people . Vitamin C loss is therefore only neutral when sufficient quantities of vitamin C are part of the diet.”!po=50.0000

“So, did Adam and Eve have a gene to code for an enzyme that would synthesize vitamin C and was this information eventually lost as a result of the curse, or were they simply created without this information in their genomes? That question might not get answered until Christ returns. But in the meantime, humans require plenty of vitamin C in their diet -- so have an orange!”
