Ron Paul interviews Julian Assange: The War on the Truth

Streamed live on Apr 27, 2017

Wikileaks Founder and Editor-in-Chief Julian Assange joins the Liberty Report to discuss the latest push by the Trump Administration to bring charges against him and his organization for publishing US Government documents. How will they get around the First Amendment and the Espionage Act? The US government and the mainstream media -- some of which gladly publish Wikileaks documents -- are pushing to demonize Assange in the court of public opinion. Wikileaks is registered as a 501(c)3 organization in the US. Find out more about the organization and how you can help:

Facebook admits: governments exploited us to spread propaganda

The Guardian: Facebook has publicly acknowledged that its platform has been exploited by governments seeking to manipulate public opinion in other countries – including during the presidential elections in the US and France – and pledged to clamp down on such “information operations”

In a white paper authored by the company’s security team and published on Thursday, the company detailed well-funded and subtle techniques used by nations and other organizations to spread misleading information and falsehoods for geopolitical goals. These efforts go well beyond “fake news”, the company said, and include content seeding, targeted data collection and fake accounts that are used to amplify one particular view, sow distrust in political institutions and spread confusion.

“We have had to expand our security focus from traditional abusive behavior, such as account hacking, malware, spam and financial scams, to include more subtle and insidious forms of misuse, including attempts to manipulate civic discourse and deceive people,” said the company.

In its effort to clamp down on information operations, Facebook suspended 30,000 accounts in France before the presidential election. The company said it was a priority to remove suspect accounts with high volumes of posting activity and the biggest audiences...snip

Here's the Technology Behind Project Portal, Toyotas Fuel Cell Truck

Toyota Fuel Cell Heavy Truck Side By Side Acceleration Demonstration

Hydrogen fuel cells sound exotic and confusing — like a technology out of the science fiction films “Minority Report” or “The Fifth Element.”

But the science is actually pretty straightforward. A simple chemical process strips electrons from hydrogen to create an electrical current, then makes water for cooling by combining the hydrogen with oxygen.

Unlike a battery that needs to be charged from the grid, hydrogen fuel cells can power up on the go. They’re also smaller and lighter than battery-electric systems, with the bonus of being just as powerful and longer-lasting.

That makes fuel cell electric propulsion systems attractive for heavy-truck use. Automotive giant Toyota Motor Corp. plans to spend the next year or more testing a system in a prototype zero-emission Class 8 drayage truck on cargo runs from the Port of Los Angeles to warehouses within a 70-mile radius...snip

...“Project Portal,” Toyota’s prototype fuel cell truck, uses two stacks, or 740 cells — taken out of two Mirai cars — and links them under the floor of the truck’s cab. Including the energy stored in the truck’s lithium batteries, the system can produce at least 500 kilowatts of power in short bursts. When the truck is running in a steady state with no excessive demands for speed, its fuel cell stack produces enough electricity to power 130 average American homes...snip

The Last Country We "Liberated" from an "Evil" dictator is now openly trading slaves

It is widely known that the U.S.-led NATO intervention to topple Libya’s Muammar Gaddafi in 2011 resulted in a power vacuum that has allowed terror groups like ISIS to gain a foothold in the country.

Despite the destructive consequences of the 2011 invasion, the West is currently taking a similar trajectory with regard to Syria. Just as the Obama administration excoriated Gaddafi in 2011, highlighting his human rights abuses and insisting he must be removed from power to protect the Libyan people, the Trump administration is now pointing to the repressive policies of Bashar al-Assad in Syria and warning his regime will soon come to an end — all in the name of protecting Syrian civilians.

But as the U.S. and its allies fail to produce legal grounds for their recent air strike — let alone provide concrete evidence to back up their claims Assad was responsible for a deadly chemical attack last week — more hazards of invading foreign countries and removing their heads of state are emerging.

This week, new findings revealed another unintended consequence of “humanitarian intervention:” the growth of the human slave trade.

The Guardian reports that while “violence, extortion and slave labor” have been a reality for people trafficked through Libya in the past, the slave trade has recently expanded. Today, people are selling other human beings out in the open...more

Hydrogen-powered catamaran Energy Observer launched in sea at Saint Malo, France

Hydrogen-powered catamaran Energy Observer launched in sea at Saint Malo, France

The hydrogen-powered catamaran Energy Observer which is attempting to circumnavigate the world using renewable energy sources was lowered in the sea in the north western French city of Saint Malo on Friday.

The 30-metre long and 13-metre wide boat will the first vessel to produce hydrogen on board from sea water without greenhouse gas emissions...snip

...Energy Observer has been dubbed as a floating laboratory as it hosts futuristic technologies including the use of hydrogen as a fuel. Hydrogen will be generated on the boat through a set of processes starting with desalination of the sea water.

The purified water will be used both for drinking and for the process of electrolysis which splits the water molecule into hydrogen and oxygen. The electrolyser can produce 360 grams of hydrogen per hour.

Since hydrogen has a very low molecular weight, it is extremely light. As a result, it is passed through a compressor and pressurised till 350 bar. It is then stored in eight tanks which can hold 60 kg of hydrogen...snip

Trump Flips On Five Core Campaign Promises In Under 24 Hours

April 12, 2017: Blink, and you missed Trump's blistering, seamless transformation into a mainstream politician.

In the span of just a few hours, President Trump flipped to new positions on several core policy issues, backing off on no less than five repeated campaign promises.

In a WSJ interview and a subsequent press conference, Trump either shifted or completely reversed positions on a number of foreign and economic policy decisions, including the fate of the US Dollar, how to handle China and the future of the chair of the Federal Reserve.

Goodbye strong dollar and high interest rates

In an announcement that rocked currency markets, Trump told the WSJ that the U.S. dollar “is getting too strong” and he would prefer the Federal Reserve keep interest rates low. “I do like a low-interest rate policy, I must be honest with you,” Mr. Trump said. “I think our dollar is getting too strong, and partially that’s my fault because people have confidence in me. But that’s hurting—that will hurt ultimately,” he added. “Look, there’s some very good things about a strong dollar, but usually speaking the best thing about it is that it sounds good.”...snip

Yellen's future

Trump also told the Journal he’d consider re-nominating Yellen to chair the Fed's board of governors, after attacking her during his campaign." I like her. I respect her,” Trump said, “It’s very early.”...snip

Export-Import Bank

Trump also voiced support behind the Export-Import Bank, which helps subsidize some U.S. exports, after opposing it during the campaign....snip

Finally, Trump said NATO is "no longer obsolete" during a Wednesday press conference with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, backtracking on his past criticism of the alliance. During the campaign, he frequently called the organization "obsolete," saying did little to crack down on terrorism and that its other members don’t pay their “fair share.”

“I said it was obsolete. It is no longer obsolete," the president said Wednesday...snip
