About Me

Retired 3x, living comfortably on the Gulf Coast, biking, beachwalking, lifting free weights, eating mostly properly, keeping my mind active, in my seventh decade, intending to give Methuselah a run for the record...

Journal Archives

Five and gone in one day, I'm not sure if that's a record?...

There's been discussion about Discouraged Workers being at a high for years, not seen in decades...

... with the common reply being that is was only because so many of working age were retiring. I recall Nancy Pelosi making a comment about how it was GOOD that so many could take time off to enjoy themselves!

Then too, you hear that the Bush recession was SO bad, Obama had to struggle mightily to overcome it. And as Obama "struggled" year after year after year, his apologists kept blaming Bush year after year after year.

We're in Obama's FINAL year, and the Discouraged Worker figure has remained higher than in 2008 for every Obama year, as shown.

The BLM definition?

Reasons not in labor force:      Discouragement over job prospects (Persons who believe no job is available.)

7 Times Nate Silver Was Hilariously Wrong About Donald Trump

It’s been a rough election cycle for forecasting guru Nate Silver and his website FiveThirtyEight. Silver became a household name after he almost perfectly predicted the results of the 2008 and 2012 general elections, and his esteem was such that to some people he had removed almost all the suspense from elections.

Then Trump happened.

1. June 16, 2015: Why Donald Trump Isn’t A Real Candidate, In One Chart

The first anti-Trump volley at FiveThirtyEight was fired by Harry Enten, the website’s election specialist. Enten’s “one chart” that showed Trump wasn’t a real candidate was one showing the net favorability of 106 presidential candidates since 1980. Trump’s high name recognition combined with a staggering -32 favorability made him the least-liked presidential candidate of all time, Enten said.

“For this reason alone, Trump has a better chance of cameoing in another “Home Alone” movie with Macaulay Culkin — or playing in the NBA Finals — than winning the Republican nomination.,” Enten said.

FiveThirtyEight's Nate Silver Predicts Hillary Clinton Wins Election Against Donald Trump

Clinton has a 79 percent chance of winning the election, compared to Trump's 20 percent, according to FiveThirtyEight’s forecast.

Caught on Video=> MUSLIM WOMAN at LAX Trashes Gays, Threatens to Bomb America

One day after the Islamic terrorist attack in Orlando, a Muslim woman showed up at the Los Angeles International Airport, making terror threats. The news media was silent.

Journalist and cameraman Tony Vera captured police questioning a Muslim woman at the airport and searching her luggage, but finding nothing wrong, they released her and let her continue on inside the airport. Vera stopped her as she walked past him, and that’s when she let lose again, with verbal terrorist threats against America.

“F*** America,” the woman said. “I will make sure we bomb America. You wait and see!”

She ranted on for several minutes, and eventually police arrested her again at the ticket counter, this time for real. The video has been turned over to the FBI.

TransCanada Files $15B NAFTA Claim on Keystone XL Rejection

TransCanada Corp. is seeking to recoup $15 billion for the Obama administration’s rejection of the Keystone XL oil pipeline, in a legal claim that highlights how foreign companies can use trade deals to challenge U.S. policy.

The Calgary-based pipeline operator filed papers late Friday seeking arbitration under the North American Free Trade Agreement, arguing that TransCanada had every reason to believe it would win approval to build Keystone XL. Instead, President Barack Obama last November determined that the pipeline, which would have carried Canadian oil sands crude to the U.S. Gulf coast, wasn’t in the national interest. In response, TransCanada in January vowed to use arbitration provisions in Chapter 11 of Nafta to recover costs and damages.

The company said the U.S. spent seven years delaying a final decision on the project with multiple rounds of “arbitrary and contrived” analyses and justifications.

“None of that technical analysis or legal wrangling was material to the administration’s final decision,” TransCanada said in Friday’s filing. “Instead, the rejection was symbolic and based merely on the desire to make the U.S. appear strong on climate change, even though the State Department had itself concluded that denial would have no significant impact on the environment.

Sounds like they have a good case. Something else to add to Obama's "legacy" ...

TV Reporters Laugh At Hillary For Avoiding Questions

Hillary Clinton continues to avoid holding press conferences or answering any questions from reporters, a fact that is well known by members of the media, and is literally becoming a joke.

As Clinton visited House Democratic Caucus members Wednesday morning, she refused to answer questions as MSNBC reporter Kasie Hunt approached her.

When Hunt asked Clinton if she had a short list for vice presidential picks, Clinton did what she usually does, plastered on a fake smile and waved inanely.

Hunt, along with MSNBC anchor Jose Diaz-Balart began laughing at Clinton’s default position. “We tried, we tried,” Hunt said. “It’s not an uncommon thing.”

Urgent notice to DI Hillary cadre, WAIT FOR DNC-ISSUED TALKING POINTS! That is all...

Trump on TV in NY, destroying Hillary down to the ground, then sowing salt where she stood...

... and you know what salt does to slimy slugs like Hill...

I have the distinct impression that our Left on DI have become rudderless, striking out...

... in all directions. The past few days have been filled with dozens of nonsense threads, primarily aimed at our Right, seeking to leave the impression that Hillary is an absolute shoe-in in November, that there is no FBI criminal investigation, that Trump has left the building and that they either (a) don't need Bernie supporters or (b) know that Bernie supporters will instantly fall into line within the Hillary Borg.

The Right, on the other hand, is mostly calm and confident of a Trump win in November and of an abject Hillary defeat , she being either crushed under multiple felony charges or publicly exposed by the release of thousands of pages of case files from the FBI and even from the State Department AG office.

The Hillary supporters are having to TRY to pretend that the twenty-some years of Clinton slime will magically wash away in 4.5 months, leaving them to hail the victory of their Queen of Everything, and it's that unbearable wait that causes them to attack blindly, embarrassing themselves daily. They know, deeply and alarmingly, how awful another Clinton presidency would be and in their conflict between wanting and not wanting, they seem to behave with extreme irrationality.

But hopefully, it's just a phase, and a Trump election will resolve their mental anguish as they dust off and lubricate their Bush hate, with the certain - sure knowledge that they can employ that for the next eight (or more) years...
