Gee, did you go hiking thinking it was named "Death Pass" on Opposite Day?

https://www.foxnews.com/us/colorado-avalanche-kills-2-backcountry-skiers-in-area-known-as-death-pass

Two backcountry skiers were killed over the weekend in an avalanche in an area of Colorado known as "Death Pass," officials said.

Crested Butte Search and Rescue said in a Facebook post the two backcountry skiers were reported missing on Saturday night near the town of Crested Butte, and tracks were discovered leading into a fresh avalanche field near the area known as "Death Pass."

"No tracks exiting the slide were found and faint beacon signals were located in the slide area," the group said.

A search and rescue group determined shortly after midnight that conditions were too dangerous, and the search was called off for the night, according to the Colorado Avalanche Information Center. On Sunday, a team of six Crested Butte Search and Rescue members found the men’s bodies.

"Our deepest condolences go out to the families and friends of the people involved," the agency said.

Went for a cocktail/beer cruze yesterday for the first time in what seems like forever.

After a late breakfast at the nearest Waffle House, which is 45 miles away, we stopped at one of the better microbreweries nearby.

She had a Honey Brown Ale. I had something that should not have worked, but did. A Peanut Butter and Chocolate Cider. It's the pale drink in the 32 glass.

After that we headed back toward home, but not before stopping at out favorite restaurant. It's a sort of high-end Pan Asian place with an owner who is a consummate host and a bartender who is a master at his trade. (On a side note his from his home town keep Punxatawnwy Phil in the off season). If he knows you and your tastes, when he asks "Do you trust me?", you say YES.

It was an Colonel E.H. Taylor's Old Fashioned with a "Secret Ingredient" that I am sworn to not reveal. I can assure you it was amazing, though.

All in all it was a 120 mile or so sanity loop we really needed.

NBC is prepping the faithful for a letdown

https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/justice-department/you-may-be-disappointed-mueller-report-n971601

You may be disappointed by the Mueller report
The special counsel operates under rules that severely constrain how much information can be made public.

WASHINGTON — Millions of Americans are waiting for Robert Mueller to give them the final word on whether the Trump campaign conspired with the 2016 Russian election interference effort — and whether their president is under the influence of a foreign adversary.

Millions of Americans may be sorely disappointed.

Unless Mueller files a detailed indictment charging members of the Trump campaign with conspiring with Russia, the public may never learn the full scope of what Mueller and his team has found — including potentially scandalous behavior that doesn't amount to a provable crime.

The reason: The special counsel operates under rules that severely constrain how much information can be made public.

Those rules require that the special counsel's report to the attorney general be "confidential." And, while the attorney general is required to notify Congress about Mueller's findings, the rules say those reports must amount to "brief notifications, with an outline of the actions and the reasons for them."

"Expectations that we will see a comprehensive report from the special counsel are high. But the written regulations that govern the special counsel's reporting requirements should arguably dampen those expectations," said Chuck Rosenberg, a former federal prosecutor and NBC News analyst.
