Is Putin plotting war in Europe?

Very dangerous situation. With NATO paring down their forces it makes it more and more necessary to rely on a nuclear deterrent, defense on the cheap, if you will, all the more necessary.

The increasing scale and frequency of military exercises undertaken by Russia means Vladimir Putin is 'actively preparing' for war in Europe, a think tank has warned.
Research that analysed two recent large-scale exercises by Russia and NATO found that each side was training with 'most likely war plans in mind'.
But the report warned that NATO was 'unable to match' the scale of those conducted by Moscow.

Ian Kearns, director of the London-based European Leadership Network, which conducted the study, said the war games 'are contributing to a climate of mistrust' that have 'on occasion become the focal point for some quite close encounters between the NATO and Russian militaries.'
The research found signs that 'Russia is preparing for a conflict with NATO and NATO is preparing for a possible confrontation with Russia.'
The ELN study said NATO plans approximately 270 exercises this year, while Russia has announced 4,000 drills at all levels.

I had an interesting exchange with a cop last week

We are in the midst of a personal dispute with a family member I'll not get into here, but it partly resulted in having their car towed from my property. When the truck arrived it was accompanied by a local police officer. He came up to the house and asked if he could come in, as he had responded to our house fire two years ago and his curiosity was killing him as to how the rebuild went. While he is getting the grand tour, he noticed my Mossberg 500 Persuader I keep propped near the front door. I expected some lecture about proper storage, safety, etc. All he said was "Shouldn't you keep that near the couch? It doesn't do you a lot of good all the way over by the door if you really needed it."

Iron Maiden Frontman unexpectedly drops in on RAF

Bruce Dickinson, the Iron Maiden frontman, was forced to make an emergency landing at a Royal Air Force airfield when his replica war plane started to run low on fuel.
The heavy metal star pilot made an unexpected appearance in his Fokker triplane at RAF Halton, near Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire.

Dickinson - most famous for hits including Number of The Beast, Trooper and Run To The Hills - had his historic plane refuelled by RAF personnel last week.
The aircraft remained at the RAF base for several nights, said Squadron Leader Gary Coleman, officer commanding operations squadron at RAF Halton.
