My wife has just been diagnosed with the weirdest condition

Achalasia

What is achalasia?
The esophagus is the muscular tube that extends from the neck to the abdomen and connects the throat to the stomach. Achalasia is a condition where the esophagus is unable to move food into the stomach. The lower esophageal sphincter (LES), a valve located at the end of the esophagus, stays closed during swallowing, resulting in the back up of food. Other symptoms include vomiting undigested food, chest pain, heartburn and weight loss..

For months now she has been complaining about difficulty swallowing. Well, several tests later we get this diagnosis. Now we have to figure out what to do about it. It's terrible. She's lost 30 pounds in the last month.

Japan is committing national suicide via abstinence and indifference

http://www.mcclatchydc.com/news/nation-world/world/article55804480.html

According to a survey of never-married people by the National Institute of Population and Social Security Research, 27.6 percent of single men and 22.6 percent of single women have no interest in engaging in a relationship with the opposite sex. Researchers cite those statistics to argue that a significant portion of Japanese simply has no interest in sex. They might even have an aversion to it.

Says Auumu Ochiai, a researcher based in Tokyo: “41.6 percent of males in their 20s have never dated anyone.”

The number of men with no sexual experience drops with age, but it’s still large at 34: 26.1 percent. For women age 34, it’s somewhat less, but not by much – 23.8 percent...

That augurs poorly for Japan’s birthrate, computed as the number of children the average Japanese woman is expected to have in her lifetime. At 1.4, it’s one of the lowest in the world. In 1985, it was 1.8, the same as the United States’ rate then; now the U.S. rate has inched up to 1.9.

Cologne Imam blames the assaulted women for bringing the assault on themselves

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3408033/Muslim-cleric-says-Cologne-sex-attacks-victims-fault-wore-PERFUME.html

A Cologne imam has said the victims of the New Years Eve mob sex attacks had themselves to blame because they wore perfume.

Sami Abu-Yusuf added that he was not surprised the girls were sexually assaulted, groped and raped, because of the way they dressed.

Hundreds of women were attacked by a mob of men in Cologne's city centre on New Years Eve, with the number of alleged sexual assaults now tallying up to 521, including three rapes.

'The events of New Year's Eve were the girls own fault, because they were half naked and wearing perfume,' Mr Abu-Yusuf told Russian TV according to Breitbart.

'It is not surprising the men wanted to attack them. is like adding fuel to the fire'.

Sami Abu-Yusuf is the Imam of the Al Tawheed mosque in Cologne, preaching Salafism - an ultra-conservative form of Sunni Islam.

The mosque has been investigated by German intelligence in the past, and was raided in 2004 to break up a 'secret network of Arab Mujahideen', according to Breitbart.

In an exclusive interview with REN TV Cologne Imam said that women are to blame, that they were raped and attacked by Islamists on New Year's Eve, brought it to their clothing and fragrances. Germany still can not compare with the events of New Year's Eve, when immigrants abused during New Year celebrations of local women.

Is it just me, or is this a really bad idea?

http://www.engadget.com/2016/01/19/amazon-dash-replenishment-devices/

Amazon has been hyping up devices with built-in Dash refill ordering, and the first wave of those devices is finally here. As of today, you can use the Dash Replenishment Service to top up the ink or toner on compatible Brother printers. If you're willing to wait until the end of January, the option will also be available for both a General Electric washing machine and a Gmate blood glucose monitor. Whichever device you get, the only real requirement is that you turn on the service -- Amazon will automatically order resupplies whenever your device is running low.

I just seems to me if you had something like, say, a very mischievous cat, you could come home one day and find something like a palate of Tide sitting in your driveway.

Police are battling with masked jihadi gunmen near a four-star business hotel in Burkina Faso's capital tonight, amid an ongoing hostage situation.
Two car bombs exploded outside the Splendid Hotel in Ouagadougou's business district before several gunmen stormed the hotel.
Security forces arrived as the men fired in the air to disperse the gathering crowd and soon engaged in a fierce gunfight with the suspected jihadis as cars burned around them.
Witnesses said the attackers claimed to be from ISIS, but an Al Qaeda affiliated group nhas reportedly claimed the attack, according to SITE Intelligence Group.
International newsagency Associated Press has reported that several people have died in the attack, according to a restaurant employee and a police officer was shot trying to reach the Splendid hotel opposite where the attackers remain, according to officers.
A senior official with the national gendarmes said suspected Islamist fighters had taken an unknown number of hostages.
'It is continuing at this time. We are trying to know how many attackers they are to better coordinate our actions. Hostages have been taken. The operation could take several hours,' the officer said asking not to be named.
