The last witness to Lincoln's assassination lived long enough to appear on TV

This is pretty interesting, and quite amazing when you think about it.

Sigh.... Lost almost every bit of food in the house last night.

Last night was "Date Night" and I was preparing dinner. I went out to the garage to get a package of vegetables from the deep freeze. Lo and behold I find the GFI tripped!!!! Everything inside was not only thawed but actually hot. I suspect it has been that way for days. Basically every bit of food we had in storage is ruined. About a half a cow, 10 racks of ribs, 20 pounds of pork, about 20 of chicken, 15 or so of vegetables, 15 pounds of bacon.

Some days really suck.

BREAKING NOW: John Hinkley Jr to be freed

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2016/07/27/judge-grants-john-hinckley-jr-his-freedom-decades-after-reagan-assassination-attempt.html

DEVELOPING: The man who tried to kill President Ronald Reagan is set to go free, after a judge decided Wednesday to allow would-be assassin John Hinckley Jr. to live with his mother in Virginia full-time.

Hinckley is set to begin his "convalescent leave" on Aug. 5, according to U.S. District Judge Paul Friedman's order.

Friedman wrote that "all of the experts and treatment providers" who testified during the hearing agreed that Hinckley's issues -- major depression and psychotic disorder -- were "in full and sustained remission and have been for more than twenty years."

How to turn a $3 Million windfall into a prison sentence

Dumb criminal for the day

$3M lottery winner invested money in crystal meth ring

A man who won $3 million on a scratch-off lottery game last year in Waycross, Georgia, invested all of his winnings in a crystal meth trafficking ring, federal prosecutors say.

Ronnie Music, Jr, 45, plead guilty to federal drug trafficking and firearm charges during a plea hearing last week. Evidence presented in the case suggested Music worked with a group to gain access to and distribute methamphetamine throughout Georgia.

Some of Music's conspirators were caught trying to sell about 11 pounds of crystal meth, valued at more than $500,000. Music was revealed as the supplier during the investigation. Agents seized over $1 million worth of methamphetamine, a large cache of firearms, thousands of rounds of ammunition, multiple vehicles, and over $600,000 in cash.

"Defendant Music decided to test his luck by sinking millions of dollars of lottery winnings into the purchase and sale of crystal meth," United States Attorney Ed Tarver said in a press release. "As a result of his unsound investment strategy, Music now faces decades in a federal prison."

The town where cell phones and wifi are banned (even some microwaves)

http://pittsburgh.cbslocal.com/2016/07/25/no-cell-phones-wi-fi-allowed-in-small-w-va-town/

GREEN BANK, W.Va. (KDKA) — Would you believe there’s a place where no one can use a cell phone? Where Wi-Fi is not allowed? Where even finding a radio station can be a difficult task?...

You see, Green Bank is home to the largest moveable radio telescope in the world...

Wi-Fi isn’t allowed here either.

Even microwave ovens closest to the telescope have to be in protective steel boxes...

And when a Dollar General opened, even the automatic doors had to be changed out because they were interfering with the telescope...

Green Bank is in the middle of something called the National Radio Quiet Zone, a 13-thousand square mile area where radio transmissions are strictly restricted. Otherwise, the work done here would be difficult at best.

Knife attack at center for disabled in Japan leaves 19 dead, 45 injured

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3707721/Stabbing-horror-Japan-leaves-19-dead-45-injured-knifeman-attacks-centre-disabled-people.html

A knifeman has killed at least 19 people and injured 45 in Japan, according to reports.

It is believed the attacker went into a centre for disabled people in the city of Sagamihara, west of Tokyo, brandishing a knife.

Police were called to the scene at around 2.30am local time after residents saw a man armed with a knife in the grounds of the Tsukui Yamayuri Garden.

Four of the injured are said to be in a serious condition.

Local media have reported that 19 people have died and 45 were injured.

Armed police encircled the centre and arrested a man in his 20s on suspicion of murder

Officers said he was a former member of staff who turned himself in after initially escaping.

The centre offers support to people with disabilities, including proving meals and creative and rehabilitation activities.

The city is known for its US Army base.
