Someone is mailing Sarin to Facebook.

MENLO PARK, Calif. — Officials with the Menlo Park Fire District say at least two people were exposed to Sarin at Facebook’s Menlo Park mailing facility on Monday.

The warehouse is on Hamilton Court near Bayfront Expressway.

The substance arrived in a package delivered to the building. A HAZMAT team was on scene.

The tech giant later released the following statement.

This is HUGE history news

A set of original videotape recordings of the Apollo 11 Moon landing that were bought for $217.77 at a government surplus auction by a former NASA intern in the 1970s could raise up to $2 million when they are auctioned this month.

The unrestored, unenhanced and unremastered tapes are described as “the earliest, sharpest, and most accurate surviving video images of man’s first steps on the moon,” by auction house Sotheby’s.

The videotapes are headlining Sotheby’s Space Exploration auction in New York City on July 20, the 50th anniversary of the Moon landing.

Viewed only three times since they were bought directly from NASA at the auction in 1976, the tapes are the only surviving first-generation recordings of Neil Armstrong’s first steps on the Moon, according to Sotheby’s. In a statement, Sotheby’s explains that the tapes are “sharper and more distinct” than the few tapes that survive from network television broadcasts of the Moon landing.

Do assholes shit in the woods?

Here’s a “wow” statistic from the U.S. Forest Service: In 2018, wilderness rangers buried more than 400 piles of human waste found scattered throughout the Enchantments near Leavenworth, which, minus the poo, is one of the loveliest wilderness destinations in all of Washington.

A bonus “wow”: The Enchantments camping zone, because of its immense popularity, is equipped with nine privies, all intended to make improper plopping avoidable. Nevertheless, on more than 400 occasions last year, according to a Forest Service spokesperson, visitors decided to plop with impunity and just walk away.

What is going on?

“It’s unbelievable how much surface pooping is going on out there,” said Craig Romano, a year-round hiker and author of 20 hiking guides for The Mountaineers Books. “I’m coming across it in places I never expected, even remote areas. I find it in the middle of a trail. And toilet paper. Streams of it! What I’m seeing is incredible. It’s absolutely disgusting.”

The Middle Fork area provides year-round recreation opportunities for the public, but without appropriate law enforcement and education presence, trailheads, day-use areas and the side of the road become dumping grounds. (Courtesy of Monty Vanderbilt)

Romano believes outdoors etiquette violations have increased substantially over the last five years as, perhaps not coincidentally, social-media use has exploded.

Social media’s ability to attract swarms of visitors to picturesque meadows and alpine lakes has presented a new challenge to keeping natural spaces looking even quasi-pristine.

“I don’t think anybody anticipated social media — a year ago, or five or 10 years ago — to be what it is today,” said Dana Watts, executive director of the Leave No Trace Center for Outdoor Ethics. “There’s no question it’s having an impact. It is something we’re very much paying attention to.

Ohio newspaper shuts its doors after 150 years

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio — The Vindicator, which recently marked its 150th publication anniversary and is Youngstown’s only daily newspaper, told employees Friday afternoon that it will close.

The news was first reported by 21 WFMJ-TV, a Youngstown television station that is owned by the same family as The Vindicator. The news was independently confirmed by The Plain Dealer.

WFMJ quoted a letter sent to station employees Friday by Mark Brown, the paper’s general manager. According to the station, a letter by Brown and Vindicator Publisher Betty J. H. Brown Jagnow explaining the decision will be published in Saturday’s Vindicator. A source confirmed to The Plain Dealer that The Vindicator’s owners had sought out buyers, but were unable to find one. The paper will stop printing at the end of August.

“It’s stunning news for us, internally, and it’s going to be stunning for the community over the next days and weeks, especially a community that’s endured as much as the Valley has, most recently with the Lordstown closure,” said Todd Franko, Vindicator editor-in-chief. “We’re as vintage a brand as GM, and it’s tough for all of us. Obviously my first concerns are for my coworkers and the people who have spent decades here, but I’m also sad for the Valley and what they’re going to lose. It’s a loss for thousands.”

In interviews, current and former Vindicator staff members expressed sadness, both for employees of the paper and for the Mahoning Valley community.

Bertram de Souza, The Vindicator’s editorial page editor and a columnist, recalled that when he joined the staff 40 years ago this month, the paper staffed multiple bureaus across the Valley and reached some 100,000 readers per day. “Unfortunately, the reality of our industry hit home – literally. It’s painful, for somebody like me, who has dedicated my life.”

This isn't going to go over well with the Left's idolization of the Dali Lama

The Dalai Lama has claimed that Europe could become 'Muslim or African' if refugees who have been taken in are not then sent back to their home countries.

The Buddhist spiritual leader, who has been living as a refugee in India since fleeing Tibet in 1959, said only a 'limited number' of migrants should be allowed to remain.

During an interview with the BBC, the Dalai Lama added that refugees who have fled to Europe should be given skills before being returned.

He said Europe was under an obligation to take in those who needed help, but ultimately they should be returned to their homelands.

The 83-year-old said: 'European countries should take these refugees and give them education and training, and the aim is return to their own land with certain skills.'

When asked what should happen to those who want to stay in their adopted countries, he replied: 'A limited number is OK, but the whole of Europe eventually become Muslim country, African country - impossible.'

It is not the first time the monk has made such comments. In a speech last year in Malmo, Sweden, the Tibetan Buddhist said refugees should return to help rebuilt their own countries.

He said: 'Receive them , help them, educate them, but ultimately they should develop their own country. I think Europe belongs to the Europeans.'
