Global Warming - A lie exposed

Millionaires flee their homelands as tensions rise and taxes bite

(Bloomberg) -- The world’s wealthy are increasingly on the move.
About 108,000 millionaires migrated across borders last year, a 14 percent increase from the prior year, and more than double the level in 2013, according to Johannesburg-based New World Wealth. Australia, U.S. and Canada are the top destinations, according to the research firm, while China and Russia are the biggest losers. The U.K. saw around 3,000 millionaires depart last year with Brexit and taxation cited as possible reasons.

Whats his free throw average though?

AOCs Stupidity Strikes Again

Sometimes members of congress have their specialties. Senator Whitehouse has dark money, Rand Paul’s got libertarianism, Maxine Waters has “impeach Barney Fife,” Ben Sasse has civics. Well, AOC has stupidity.
Do you ever watch an episode of Jeopardy and the final category is 19th Century Presidents and a contestant answers “JFK?” Or have you seen the clip from Family Feud with Richard Dawson where a contestant is asked to name a yellow fruit and she answers “orange?”

The only acceptable way of addressing this stupidity is telling these people that they are dumb and they should go home. Then once they leave, you have to wonder how they made it anywhere in life.
A good rule in life is that it is always best to shut up when you have no clue what you are talking about. Remaining quiet is always preferable to volunteering an obviously wrong answer.
I give you Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez…

Now, I am not a fan of spending a whole lot of time talking about AOC. Conservative media may end up doing to her what the left-wing media did to Trump i.e. give her hours of free publicity.
But recent reports show that the coverage that ensues from her verbal diarrhea is actually damaging her image. Hmm…who knew? You can only peddle stupidity for a little bit before it goes from avant-garde to shameful.
Vox says “This might surprise a lot of Democrats, who see all of her viral clips and impressive performances in congressional hearings and assume she’s a popular rising star.” Vox breaks down some poll numbers regarding AOC’s popularity and they come to the conclusion that conservative media is driving her poll numbers down.
Independents, Republicans, and those who haven’t heard of her are more likely to view her unfavorably.
But what is most interesting is that while Vox points to her “impressive performances,” AOC has shown an utter lack of concern for historical accuracy and routinely makes idiotic claims.

Her most recent blunder involves the sainted FDR. AOC has a love-hate relationship with America’s only monarch. One day he’s a racist, the next day he’s a liberal visionary.
I digress. You can watch the clip of AOC at an MSNBC Townhall below.

While playing fast and loose with historical facts regarding her party being bold with super-majorities and the passage of the New Deal (prolonged the depression), Great Society (ruined families), and the Civil Rights Act (republicans supported it more than democrats), she makes her way to the discussion of FDR’s excessive number of terms in office.
She says that Republicans passed the 22nd amendment to prevent FDR from seeking reelection.
The amendment says,

Section 1. No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice, and no person who has held the office of President, or acted as President, for more than two years of a term to which some other person was elected President shall be elected to the office of the President more than once. But this Article shall not apply to any person holding the office of President when this Article was proposed by the Congress, and shall not prevent any person who may be holding the office of President, or acting as President, during the term within which this Article becomes operative from holding the office of President or acting as President during the remainder of such term.
Section 2. This Article shall be inoperative unless it shall have been ratified as an amendment to the Constitution by the legislatures of three-fourths of the several states within seven years from the date of its submission to the states by the Congress.

Let’s start with the basics.
Article V of the Constitution says that in order to merely propose an amendment, two-thirds of both houses are needed. From the 30s to the 40s, the democrats had complete control of the executive and legislative branches. There was no room for republicans to do anything on their own. And when the 80th congress resulted in republican majorities, they were slim and still required democratic support in order to reach that two-thirds threshold. So while Newsweek wants to say that AOC was “technically” correct by connecting the amendment with the intentions of republican lawmakers, actually amending the constitution went far beyond simple partisan calculus.

But we needn’t go that far in addressing the basic concerns about partisan motives since FDR was dead in 1947! In fact, he died in 1945. The 22nd amendment was proposed in March of 1947, two months after the republican led 80th congress took power. It wasn’t ratified by three-fourths of the states until 1951.
Not only was FDR dead, but the amendment provided an exemption for his successor, Truman, from the term limit. The grandfather clause permitted Truman to run for as many terms as he wanted.

It’s historically illiterate to go along with AOC. George Washington himself set the precedent of a two term presidency and everyone but FDR followed it. Not that others didn’t try… Yet this was the hallmark of a nation of laws and not men. Elected officials are replaceable. We do not get attached to one man in power. The United States rebelled against a monarchy. We weren’t going to continue that dynastic power structure.
FDR simply reminded that nation that without an amendment, some men were willing to forsake that good precedent in pursuit of power. But even I’ll cut FDR some slack given the time period. It is always good to correct course when we are able. Congress and the states did so after the depression and after WWII.

Not to worry, AOC. Dead people have been voting for democrats for decades. So, why not vote for a dead man?

The warmists have it as an article of faith that the Sun is constant. How can they say such a thing and call themselves scientists? Even a simpleton knows that there are solar flares and solar storms and sunspots as big as planet Earth. How long are these scientists going to get away with it? I will tell you – as long as they are funded.

"What causes me pain is that the baby asks me for food and there are days when I can't provide it," said Mendoza, who fled Honduras with almost no money because she feared for her life after receiving threats from the father of her son. "I thought that with the baby, people would help me on road."

Wait. I thought they were fleeing repressive GOVERNMENTS, not abusive husbands…….
