One more thing needs to be done with Obamacare and Republicans should be hands off

The mandate is over so now simply rename it the Obama Insurance Industry Welfare Act and the evisceration will be complete.

How Syria's White Helmets became victims of an online propaganda machine

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2017/dec/18/syria-white-helmets-conspiracy-theories
...
The campaign to discredit the White Helmets started at the same time as Russia staged a military intervention in Syria in September 2015, supporting President Bashar al-Assad’s army with airstrikes bombarding opposition-held areas. Almost immediately, Russian state media such as RT and Sputnik started falsely claiming that Isis was the only target and throwing doubt on the bombings of infrastructure and civilian sites.
...
Their footage has helped organisations like Amnesty and the Syria Justice and Accountability Center corroborate testimony they receive from people in Syria via phone, Skype and WhatsApp. It allows them to check the aftermath of airstrikes to see whether civilians were targeted and whether there was any military presence or checkpoints.

“That’s really been damaging to the war narrative of Syria and Russia,” said Benedict.
...
It was the White Helmets’ footage that documented the chemical attack in Khan Sheikhoun in April, which killed at least 83 people, a third of them children. UN war crimes investigators later concluded the attack was carried out by the Syrian regime against its own people. Russian state media and a network of supportive alternative news sites continue to cast doubt on investigators’ findings, describing it as “illogical” and “deliberately staged” by militants.

Democrats Appear To Have Lost The DACA Fight For Now

https://fivethirtyeight.com/features/democrats-appear-to-have-lost-the-daca-fight-for-now/

The Democrats thought that December was the month they could use the threat of a government shutdown to force congressional Republicans to pass a law that offers protections from deportation and other benefits for some young undocumented immigrants.

But the passage this month of such a law, along the lines of the Obama administration’s Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, now looks very unlikely. Why? Because at least right now, Democrats appear not to have much leverage in terms of forcing the GOP to accept a DACA-style bill, in part because a group of House Republicans who strongly oppose such a provision may have more sway. It looks like Congress will fund the government and avoid a shutdown in the next few weeks — without addressing DACA.

Why didn’t Democrats in the Senate stop the funding extension?

Democrats in the Senate could have blocked the funding bill, since government spending bills can be filibustered (meaning you need 60 votes for this kind of legislation, and Republicans only have 52 seats right now). But then Democrats could have been blamed directly for a government shutdown, and polls suggest that the public may not have responded favorably to a shutdown over DACA.

The House was the real place for Democrats to gain leverage by a combination of Republicans and Democrats opposing the spending legislation. That did not happen, so most Senate Democrats backed the funding bill, and it was approved in the Senate by an 81-14 vote.

Giddy Republicans celebrate major tax victory ahead of vote

https://www.yahoo.com/news/gop-set-roll-1-5t-083058348.html

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Giddy Republicans took a victory lap on Tuesday hours before their big vote on the most sweeping overhaul of the nation's tax laws in more than three decades. House Speaker Paul Ryan dismissed criticism of the widely unpopular package and insisted "results are what's going to make this popular."

Their long-sought political goal within grasp, Republicans were set to catapult the $1.5 trillion tax legislation through the House, rolling over a dozen GOP defectors from high-tax states. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky said the Senate would vote Tuesday evening, sending the legislation to President Donald Trump.

"When we get this done, when people see their withholding improving, when they see jobs occurring, when they see bigger paychecks, a fairer tax system, a simpler tax code, that's what's going to produce the results," said Ryan, R-Wis.

The bill provides steep tax cuts to businesses and wealthy families, and more modest cuts to middle- and low-income families. It scales back a popular deduction for state and local taxes, repeals a key tenet of Barack Obama's Affordable Care Act and allows drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.

Hezbollah Smuggled Tons of Cocaine Into the U.S. During Obama Administration, Report Reveals

https://www.yahoo.com/news/hezbollah-smuggled-tons-cocaine-u-001923525.html

The Islamist militant group Hezbollah exploded into a major cocaine trafficker for the United States over the past decade — and it happened under former President Barack Obama's watch to help score a nuclear deal with Iran, a report revealed Monday.

Project Cassandra, a campaign launched by the Drug Enforcement Administration in 2008, found that the Iran-backed military and political organization collected $1 billion a year from money laundering, criminal activities, and drug and weapons trade, according to Politico. Over the following eight years, the agency found that Hezbollah was involved in cocaine shipments from Latin America to West Africa, as well as through Venezuela and Mexico to the United States.

The Obama administration halted Project Cassandra as it was approaching the upper echelons of Hezbollah’s conspiracy in order to seal a nuclear deal with Iran, even though Hezbollah was still funneling cocaine into America. Officials at the U.S. Justice and Treasury departments delayed the project’s requests to conduct relevant investigations, prosecutions, and arrests. Obama eventually helped strike the Iran deal with several other nations in 2015.

Because of the project's sudden end, it is hard to determine how much cocaine has come into the U.S. from Hezbollah-affiliated networks. But through Venezuela alone, Hezbollah sent thousands of tons to the United States in a matter of years.

Republicans strike deal on sweeping tax overhaul

https://www.politico.com/story/2017/12/13/tax-reform-deal-compromise-plan-294972

Republicans have struck a deal on a sweeping tax overhaul and hope to have legislation on President Donald Trump's desk by next week, sources said Wednesday.

It would give Republicans the type of major legislative victory that has eluded them all year and mark arguably the biggest change to the tax code in over 30 years.

One major deal that fell into place, on the state and local tax deduction, would allow taxpayers to choose a property tax deduction or a deduction for state and local income taxes, up to $10,000 in either case, according to a GOP congressional aide and a person familiar with the process.

The issue has been a major snag throughout the process, with Republican lawmakers from the Northeast clamoring for the property tax deduction and those from California insisting on the income tax write-off. Republican leaders originally wanted to abolish the entire state and local tax deduction.

Happy anniversary everyone!!!!

A year ago this time some of those election parties started to turn better than others

Who is going to donate to the DNC these days?

It seems one party definitely committed fraud this past election and it isn't the Republicans. And given all the Democrat sex perverts in Hollywood, are there enough stupid Democrats left to support the DNC?

After New York attack, Trump calls for ending 'Diversity Visa Lottery Program'

WASHINGTON — President Trump said Wednesday he would renew efforts to kill a particular immigration program in the wake of the terrorist attack in New York City.

"The terrorist came into our country through what is called the 'Diversity Visa Lottery Program,' a Chuck Schumer beauty. I want merit based," Trump tweeted, citing the name of Senate Democratic leader who hails from New York.

Schumer responded by accusing Trump of politicizing the attack, and added that the White House is also seeking to cut the federal counter-terrorism budget.

“I have always believed and continue to believe that immigration is good for America,"
Schumer said. "President Trump, instead of politicizing and dividing America, which he always seems to do at times of national tragedy, should be focusing on the real solution — anti-terrorism funding — which he proposed cutting in his most recent budget."
