A fire has broken out at the Notre Dame cathedral in Paris, firefighters in France have confirmed.

Pictures posted on social media appear to show plumes of smoke pouring out of one of the historic landmark's steeples.

22. It started in the afternoon so hopefully not too many.

Tourists may have been gone to eat around that time. When I was there it was pretty busy at like 1pm. This time of year it's probably packed though.

Her guess were they may have been using an epoxy bonding agent. That would be pretty standard today.
