Two baby elephants rescued from a pit in Sri Lanka:

https://www.yahoo.com/news/two-baby-elephants-rescued-pit-120000824.html

"Two baby elephants were rescued on Monday after they fell into a deep pit in Sri Lanka. Residents of Kalagama in Galkiriyagama worked alongside wildlife officials for four hours to dig around the pit so that the animals could climb to safety on their own. One of the calves then headed directly for the waiting herd but another walked into a nearby village. However, rescuers managed to redirect the youngster and reunite it with its mother." 1. Elephants are on my list of critters that deserve special protection because of their

intelligence and empathy.

4. There's a video of park worker swimming in a river. A baby elephant sees him and

mistakenly thinks the man is drowning. The baby elephant rushes into the water and gently pushes the man to the bank.

That is an astounding sense of intelligence and empathy.

2. I hope they didn't tip over the island.

On a serious side. Good job!
