4. I have two 308's built on Remington 700 actions. There are a ton of aftermarket parts for them.

My triggers I like at 2 ri 2.5 lbs. I want then crisp, to break clean and with very little travel. I shoot long range comp and I want them to go off when I think about squeezing the trigger. The triggertech diamond set at two pounds is damn hard to beat but they are pricey.

When I build up a rifle if it won't shoot 5 shots over ten minutes into a half inch group, center to center, at a hundred yards, then it will never make a 1K rifle. After breaking in the barrel I always put the rifle into a machine rest so I can see what the Rifle can do when the shooter, me, is taken out of the picture.

I spend months working with different loads/powders/primers and bullets to find out what that rifle likes. I've even weighed the water from cases to find case capacity. Everything is as uniform as I can make it. Even within the same run of bullets the weights will differ slightly.

I usually glass bed and pillar bed the stocks and make sure they fit me as well. On any of the mags or 30 cal and up I will screw a vais brake on the front end too.

If you are not naturally very ocd don't get into the 1K game.
