What Are You Reading? April 29, 2018

It's been an extremely slow period of reading. I've just started reading the romantic suspense thriller The Killing Game by Nancy Bush.

Before that I finished reading Ichabod by Mark Goodwin. That book was such a slow read it seemed to be getting longer as I was reading it.

Before that I read Stuart Woods' Kisser. Stone Barrington finds himself attracted to a beautiful young actress who has come up from Georgia to try her hand at finding roles in New York. So he signs himself up as her agent,,

What Are You Reading? April 15, 2018

Currently I'm reading The Bribe by William P. Wood. A popular California congressman is assassinated and the Sacramento police are trying hard to figure out who killed him.

Have You Seen Her? by Karen Rose is a romantic suspense novel. It wasn't as thrillerish as I would have liked, but there were some steamy love scenes.

Before that I read Writers of the Future Volume V which is edited by Algis Budrys. Most of the stories were very good.

Right now I'm reading Have You Seen Her? by Karen Rose. In this book a serial killer is preying on teenage girls and the police are trying to catch him.

Before that I read the short story collection Writers of the Future Volume V, which us edited by Algis Budrys. Most of the stories were very good.

And The Paris Vendetta by Steve Berry, a thriller in which the main characters are searching for a lost treasure hidden by Napoleon.

I'm almost finished reading The Paris Vendetta by Steve Berry. It's a thriller about a group of people who are searching for a treasure left behind byu Napoleon.

Before that I read the Arctic adventure Icebound by Dean Koontz. A group of scientists is trying to figure out how to tow icebergs to drought-stricken areas to cause them to produce more food.

And James Patterson's Confessions: The Private School Murders which was written with Maxine Paetro. A serial killer is stalking and murdering girls who attend prestigious private schools in Manhattan.

I'm almost finished reading Barry Eisler's Rain Fall, a noir thriller set in Japan. I've been learning quite a bit about Japanese life and culture from this book. This book is the first in a series, so I'm looking forward to eventually reading more.

Before that I read Liar by K.L. Slater. It's a British psychological thriller. The protagonist doesn't like her son's new girlfriend and the changes she's been making.

And The Innocents by Bobby Akart. It's the second in his Pandemic series.

I've just started reading Joel C. Rosenberg's The Last Days, a political thriller.

Before that I read Stalkers, which is edited by Ed Gorman and Martin H. Greenberg. It's a collection of short stories and novellas in which stalking takes place.

I also read Mortal Faults by Michael Prescott, in which a couple of women, one a vigilante, the other with the FBI, are trying to track down a woman who's stalking a member of Congress who's running for re-election.

Minka Kent's The Perfect Roommate is about a young woman who thinks she's found the perfect roommate at first, to discover that this roommate really isn't all that perfect.

Deadly Harvest by Leonard Goldberg is a medical thriller about a company that obtains organs for transplant.

Right now I'm reading Tina Wainscott's What Lies in Shadow, about a woman who has a bllog and is keeping her identity secret and is tempted to have an affair with a man who responds to her posts. She decides to work towards making her marriage work instead of having an affair, but that doesn't stop the man. He starts stalking her, turning up like a bad penny wherever she is.

Before that I read Missing Justice by Alafair Burke.in which the protagonist tries to figure out who murdered a city judge.

And The Best Science Fiction and Fantasy of the Year Volume Seven, which is edited by Jonathan Strahan. Most of the stories were very good.

I'm between books at the moment, but I just finished reading The Dead Letters by Tom Piccirilli. It's about a man whose daughter was murdered by a serial killer who has reformed and is taking babies from abusive parents and giving them to his victims. It was weird.

Before that I read the British mystery The Headhunters by Peter Lovesey. It had a great surprise ending.

And Cut and Run, a thriller by Jeff Abbott.

Steven Konkoly's Fractured State is about a California which is a fascist dystopia and a family which has gone into hiding.

I've just started reading Private London by James Patterson and Mark Pearson.It's about a couple of detectives who are trying to catch an elusive predator.

Before that I read The Prophecy by Chris Kuzneski in which two detectives are looking into a mysterious lettyer.

And Distress, a sci-fi novel by Greg Egan.

Diagnosis Dead is a collection of short stories edited by Jonathan Kellerman. Most of the stories are very good.

John Saul's In the Dark of the Night is about a Chicago family which travels to Wisconsin and finds horror.

I also read Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury, in which the protagonist is a fireman. In this dystopia, the firemen burn books.
