Dow set to surge more than 400 points after Trump and Xi agree to pause the US-China trade war

U.S. stock market futures surged after U.S. President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping agreed to a 90-day ceasefire in the trade war that has weighed heavily on global stock markets for most of 2018.
Futures on the Dow Jones Industrial Average indicated an open of about 443 points as of 6:34 a.m. ET Monday. Big multinationals like Caterpillar and General Motors were set to lead the gains. Meanwhile, S&P 500 futures jumped 1.6 percent, while futures on the Nasdaq-100, home of many technology companies that sell to China, climbed 2.4 percent.
Futures on oil and copper jumped on hopes a possible new China-U.S. trade agreement would boost global economic growth.

The two leaders, who met for dinner on Saturday at the G-20 summit in Argentina, agreed to hold off on additional tariffs on each other's goods at the start of the new year to allow for talks to continue. The U.S. agreed to leave tariffs on more than $200 billion worth of Chinese products at 10 percent.

I'm sure the haters and those who don't understand the markets will be along shortly to tell us how this is not a good thing

Looks like Elizabeth Warren got smacked down today being called out by the Cherrokee...

The Cherokee Nation responded to the results of Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren's DNA test on Monday, arguing that “a DNA test is useless to determine tribal citizenship.” The response comes after the Democratic senator revealed that, based on tests, she has Native-American ancestry “in the range of 6-10 generations ago.”
"Current DNA tests do not even distinguish whether a person’s ancestors were indigenous to North or South America," Cherokee Nation Secretary of State Chuck Hoskin Jr. said in a press release.

"Sovereign tribal nations set their own legal requirements for citizenship, and while DNA tests can be used to determine lineage, such as paternity to an individual, it is not evidence for tribal affiliation," Hoskins continued. "Using a DNA test to lay claim to any connection to the Cherokee Nation or any tribal nation, even vaguely, is inappropriate and wrong. It makes a mockery out of DNA tests and its legitimate uses while also dishonoring legitimate tribal governments and their citizens, whose ancestors are well documented and whose heritage is proven. Senator Warren is undermining tribal interests with her continued claims of tribal heritage."

Poor lefty just can't catch a break!!! heh heh heh...

Andrew Gillum Shocked Florida With a Primary Win. But an F.B.I. Inquiry Clouds His Campaign.

At issue is a vote in June 2016 to expand a city redevelopment district to include properties the undercover agents posing as developers said they wanted to invest in if the properties became eligible for public dollars. It would have been unlawful for public officials to accept money or other consideration from the purported developers in exchange for favorable votes.

Mr. Gillum was not present for the vote that approved the boundary change. But the investigation revealed that he had spent time socializing with Mr. Corey, the lobbyist, and the undercover agents in New York, including taking a boat ride to the Statue of Liberty and seeing a Broadway performance of the hit musical “Hamilton.”

Mr. Gillum and Mr. Corey met in college, when they were involved in student government at Florida A&M University and at Florida Gulf Coast University, respectively. They remained friends — Mr. Corey served as Mr. Gillum’s volunteer campaign treasurer in his 2014 run for mayor — until the investigation; Mr. Gillum told The Tallahassee Democrat that he has severed ties with Mr. Corey.

The trip to New York in August 2016 raised questions of why the mayor was spending personal time with developers who had potential business before the city. Similar questions resulted from another trip that Mr. Gillum took with his wife and several lobbyist friends — including Mr. Corey — to Costa Rica in May 2016.

Looks like running for governor is going to "monkey up" the good thing he had going in Tallahassee...

Florida armed bystander stops gunman at crowded back-to-school event at park, police say

An armed bystander shot a man who opened fire at a Florida park filled with over 100 people -- including children -- for a Saturday back-to-school cookout, officials said.

The Titusville Police Department said in a news release the man was involved in a fistfight with another person at the Issac Campbell Park and left around 5:20 p.m. -- only to return with a gun minutes later and start shooting.

A bystander, who was lawfully licensed to carry a firearm, then shot the gunman.

The US manufacturing job market hasn't been this strong in over 20 years

President Donald Trump said during the 2016 campaign that he would "restore manufacturing in the United States." The most recent jobs report gives him something to point to on that promise.

While Friday's July jobs report disappointed overall on its topline numbers, the release showed that the manufacturing sector added another 37,000 jobs, the highest number since December.

The latest addition also capped the strongest 12-month period for manufacturing jobs growth since 1995. Over the past year, the US has added 327,000 manufacturing jobs, the highest 12-month total for manufacturing job growth since April 1995, when the number was 345,000.

It's unclear exactly the reasons for the job boom in manufacturing, but the National Association of Manufacturers appeared to give Trump's agenda some credit in a statement released Friday.
