Recession Likely Years Away Due To Bullish Trump effect
Nobel-prize winning economist Robert Shiller believes a recession may be years away due to a bullish Trump effect in the market.

According to the Yale University professor, President Donald Trump is creating an environment that’s conducive to strong consumer spending, and it’s a major force that should hold off a recession.

Before the markets can take-off, Shiller stresses President Trump needs to get past the impeachment inquiry. He sees this as the biggest threat to his optimistic forecast.

Yet, he’s sticking with the idea that the economy and markets should have a lot of runway left for gains if President Trump remains in office due to his pro-spending, pro-business narrative.

Shiller contends the next recession may not hit for another three years, and it could be mild.

Slaveholding Mauritania, Sharia Sudan, jihad-plagued Libya elected to UN Human Rights Council
The UN is a sick joke. It is nothing close to what it was intended to be: an international body in which the nations of the world could work out their differences peacefully, without resorting to war. It is, instead, just an arm of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), advancing the Islamic agenda with willing aid from a cowed and spineless West. It should be defunded immediately and expelled from the United States.

“Tyrants celebrate as U.N. elects Venezuela, Mauritania, Libya, Sudan to top rights body,” Africa News, October 18, 2019:

The U.N.’s election today of serial abusers of human rights —Venezuela, Mauritania, Libya and Sudan — to its highest human rights body drew sharp criticism from the non-governmental human rights group UN Watch, which is based in Geneva at the seat of the 47-nation Human Rights Council.

“Electing the oppressive Venezuelan regime of Nicolás Maduro to a human rights council is like making a pyromaniac into the town fire chief,” said Hillel Neuer, executive director of UN Watch. “It’s absurd, immoral and offensive.”

“Sadly, today the UN General Assembly disregarded its own rules by electing regimes that violate the human rights of their own citizens, and which consistently vote the wrong way on UN initiatives to protect the human rights of others,” said Neuer.

Syria critic Lindsey Graham reverses stance, says Trump's policy could succeed
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Republican Senator Lindsey Graham, who has been one of the most vocal critics of President Donald Trump’s decision to move U.S. troops out of northeastern Syria, said on Sunday he now believed “historic solutions” were possible.

In an interview with Fox News Channel, Graham said a conversation he had with Trump over the weekend had fueled his optimism that a solution could be reached where the security of Turkey and the Kurds was guaranteed and fighters from Islamic State contained.

“I am increasingly optimistic that we can have some historic solutions in Syria that have eluded us for years if we play our cards right,” Graham said.

Graham said Trump was prepared to use U.S. air power over a demilitarized zone occupied by international forces, adding that the use of air power could help ensure Islamic State fighters who had been held in the area did not “break out.”

Senator Jim Inhofe, a Republican who chairs the Senate Armed Services Committee, said on Saturday that Trump understood the need for the United States to maintain air power in the region.

California governor signs bill letting murderers and violent criminals serve on juries
We’ve reported on states changing laws to allow felons to vote. Then you’ve got California releasing murderers because it “feels right” to give them another chance.

Now, in another sign that the inmates are running the prison, the governor of California has approved “The Right to a Jury of Your Peers”.

It’s a move that will allow people with a prior felony conviction to serve on juries in California for the first time.

Prior to this, there was a law in California that excluded felons from jury service. Local media backed the legislation

The state Assembly approved the legislation on a 47-26 vote. The Senate gave its final OK on a 29-10 vote.

“SB 310 will ensure that Californians can be tried by a true jury of their peers,” said the bill’s author.

The American Civil Liberties Union and the Ella Baker Center for Human Rights, along with many other social justice warrior groups, were thrilled.

Obviously many are against SB310. Those fighting against it argued that people with felony convictions are too biased to ever serve on a jury.

California is clearly trying to push as far left as possible.

Last month, California Governor Gavin Newsom commuted the sentences of 21 violent offenders. Among them were four men who have convictions related to murders in Sacramento County.

All of them, who were sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole in Sacramento County, have now been granted commutations by Newsom.

It’s now up to the California Supreme Court to upheld or reject the commutations. In his final weeks in office, former Governor Jerry Brown had 10 clemency actions blocked by the court. It was the first time since 1930 that a California governor’s commutation requests had been denied.
This is Lefty enlightenment on display: massive homelessness, human feces little the streets...but legislative priorities are to let criminals on juries

Behind the Barbed Wire: China's Concentration Camps (what REAL camps look like)
"I had to be strong. Every day when I woke up, I thanked God that I was still alive." --Sayragul Sauytbay, Uyghur

There are harrowing stories -- and then there are the stories that seep deep into our bones. Sayragul Sauytbay's is the kind you don't forget. Her survival in China's concentration camps isn't just a miracle -- it's a warning that true darkness has settled over parts of the East. The most excruciating forms of torture are happening behind barbed wire walls that Beijing has tried hiding. And for the million people trapped inside, the only hope they have to escape their tormentors is international attention and pressure.

Kidnapped by state officials in the middle of the night, Sayragul remembers the terror of being taken -- her head covered in a black sack. Told she was being taken to a camp to "teach Chinese," she didn't know where she was -- only that she'd stepped into a living nightmare. Forbidden to cry or speak, she changed into prison clothes and watched her hair fall when her head was shaved. Cramped into a room with 20 others, she found out that her feet would be shackled from then on -- even in sleep. The punishment for even the smallest things, she says, was constant.

"Torture -- metal nails, fingernails pulled out, electric shocks..." David Stavrou, who tells her story, writes that the camp's commanders set aside a room to inflict the worst kind of pain imaginable. The inmates called it the "black room," because they were forbidden from mentioning it. "There were all kinds of tortures there. Some prisoners were hung on the wall and beaten with electrified truncheons. There were prisoners who were made to sit on a chair of nails.

Senate Fails to Override Trump Veto Over Funding for Border Wall
The Senate didn’t get enough votes to override President Donald Trump’s veto of a resolution that, if it had gone through, would have ended the emergency declaration that included an order to use national security funds to build the wall at the southern border.

The vote on Thursday was 53-36.

Ten Republicans sided with Democrats in voting to try to override the veto: Sens. Roy Blunt (R-Mo.), Susan Collins (R-Maine), Mike Lee (R-Utah), Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska), Rand Paul (R-Ky.), Rob Portman (R-Ohio), Mitt Romney (R-Utah), Marco Rubio (R-Fla.), Pat Toomey (R-Penn.), and Roger Wicker (R-Miss.).

Trump vetoed an identical resolution from the House on March 15, a day after the Senate approved that resolution 59-41.

“Today I am vetoing this resolution. Congress has the freedom to pass this resolution and I have the duty to veto it,” Trump said, calling the congressional resolution “reckless” and “dangerous.”

He said the flood of illegal immigrants amounted to an “invasion,” adding that there is “nowhere left to hold all of the people that we’re capturing.”

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), who opposed the resolution, said he believed Trump was “operating within existing law” and that if senators did not like the powers provided to the president under the National Emergencies Act, “then they should amend it.”
