Obstruction case laid out

This according to Paul Butler one of those former US attorneys/prosecutors who signed the letter claiming Trump obstructed justice.

According to Mr. Butler the evidence is beyond a reasonable doubt, anyone not named Trump would be in jail. Probably true, but IMHO no citizen should ever be prosecuted much less jailed on such flimsy evidence.

Count 1)Directing his personal attorney (Cohen) to lie to Congress. This is pathetic, the Buzzfeed story has been completely debunked, even Mueller said it was BS. Cohen himself said it's not true.

Count 2 )Offering a pardon to Manafort so he would lie to Mueller. This comes from a campaign rally where Trump asked the crowd if he should pardon Manafort, Some offer to Manafort, good luck proving that one.

Count 3)Witness intimidation. This has to do with Cohen's father-in-law. Trump sent a few tweets out hinting that Cohen's FIL obtained the family money through nefarious means. He also called the Judge Jeanie show and suggested she look into it.

Possible scam?

We refinanced our house last week, part of the deal was we had to pay off the massive credit card debt we have (left over from my failed business). Just got a call on Sunday? that the new bank will be sending us a check made out to BoA for the debt on the credit card. We have to remail it to BoA. That sounds queer as hell.

But I cant figure out how i"m being scammed. It just doesn't feel right.

Latest outrage

More calls for impeachment.

Here's the latest scoop. From DU.

Trump uses Russian Made Equip in WH to communicate directly with Putin!

I have never met more ignorant people, been around since 63 (the so called Hotline).

Barr disagreed, impeach him

This is just pathetic.

From DU

Attorney General MUST notify Congress if he disagreed, overruled, or blocked Mueller

Then the idiot cites the law.

BREAKING. Uprising In Venezuela Appears To Have Failed

Looks like it's over.

From Red state. Both leaders have gone into hiding.

t was definitely touch and go earlier today in Venezuela as the people there rose up to attempt to remove the illegitimate Russo-Cuban puppet Nicolas Maduro. That effort now seems to have failed.
Two of the main leaders of the recognized government, former political prisoner Leopoldo Lopez, and de jure President Juan Guaido, have abandoned the struggle.

Pretty short article.

Federal spending where it goes

Well the annual trustees report is out om SS and Medicare, and it's still grim. Not much change from last year. DU is having a field day debunking the report. All the spending is defense and foreign aid.

Not even close the the single biggest item is SS at about 33% of total spending.

I really like this analysis, easy to see charts plus easy to read explanations. It's a little older than I would have liked (2015).

Here are some highlights.

Types of spending.

Mandatory and Discretionary Spending
The U.S. Treasury divides all federal spending into three groups: mandatory spending, discretionary spending and interest on debt. Mandatory and discretionary spending account for more than ninety percent of all federal spending, and pay for all of the government services and programs on which we rely. Interest on debt, which is a much smaller amount than the other two categories, is the interest the government pays on its accumulated debt, minus interest income received by the government for assets it owns.

Mandatory spending.

Many mandatory programs' spending levels are determined by eligibility rules. For example, Congress decides to create a program like Social Security. It then sets criteria for determining who is eligible to receive benefits from the program, and benefit levels for people who are eligible. The amount of money spent on Social Security each year is then determined by how many people are eligible and apply for benefits.

Congress therefore does not decide each year to increase or decrease the budget for Social Security or other earned benefit programs. Instead, it periodically reviews the eligibility rules and may change them in order to exclude or include more people, or offer more or less generous benefits to those who are eligible, and therefore change the amount spent on the program.

Will they stop lying? just for a minute

For example, the president has banned immigration from seven predominantly Muslim countries, ostensibly as an anti-terrorism measure. This is a scaled-down version of his blatantly unconstitutional Muslim Ban, a campaign promise made in December 2015, when he said: “Donald J. Trump is calling for a total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States until our country's representatives can figure out what the hell is going on.”

GD it, two of the countries that are on the banned list are N. Korea, and Venezuela. Neither one of them is predominately Muslim,

There is no fucking Muslim ban, if there was Indonesia would be on the list.

There is a we don't trust the government of that country ban,

BTW, the list was drawn up by the Obama administration.

It's a religious article of faith

Elizabeth Warren was on Rachel last night.

This from a US Senator.

The report proves collusion, and Trump stopped the investigation.

When Rachel asked her why she believed that. Liz said "I read the report".

You cannot reason with true believers, that's why they call it faith.

The Mueller report IS an indictment of trump. Period.

This pretty much sums up what our progressive friends believe.

The notion that Mueller’s report isn’t a criminal indictment of the president is nonsense. Mueller is following the rule of law as established by the justice department that says a sitting president cannot be criminally indicted. But the report is an indictment for all intents and purposes, in particular for the use of the Congress, by alternative methods.

IMHO, the biggest lie of all

Typical lie by the MSM. According to Chris Mathews Mueller tried to throw the ball to Congress, but Barr intercepted the pass and put himself in the middle. The Mueller report was intended for Congress not Barr. Mueller couldn't indict Trump, so he laid out all the collusion evidence so Congress would decide on impeachment.

This is complete crap, the Democrats were aghast at all the detail in the Starr report so they changed the law to require that the SC deliver a confidential report to the AG, not congress. In addition the law requires the AG among other things to report the principal conclusions to congress. Barr did not intercept the report intended for congress.
