About Me

I like writing and researching. Unfortunately, I like politics too.

Journal Archives

Nightmares about mass shootings.

So, I was on a younger person's FB this morning. She said how she has had four nightmares of mass shootings. She's a senior in college. She had a friend admit she had those same dreams only she was the teacher.

So while people are arguing for their right to carry 100 AR-15s guns just because....

While people are arguing that the mentally ill have rights and that Trump is supposedly trying to lock them all up.....

We have younger people living in fear of being shot all the time.

And anybody who says they're a snowflake for that is an asshole.

Happy 4th.

For this discussion, I will ask what makes you proud to be an American.

For me:

Freedom of religion.

Freedom of speech.

The willingness to get up and fight for what we believe in.

Freedom of the press (even press not mainstream).

Freedom to petition and protest.

The large amounts and land and richness of different areas.

One heck of a complicated history.

It's not politically correct, but I'll admit that I'm happy (not necessarily proud) that we have more spirituality than other industrialized nations.

What makes one a person?

I've done a lot of heavy thinking and I think it's awareness, consciousness. I don't think it's separate DNA or a heart beat. I think it's any form of consciousness whether that be pain, hearing, seeing lights, etc.

That does not happen in the first trimester when most abortions take place. It barely might take place in the 2nd trimester.

I agree with abstinence, using birth control correctly, and all the means of not getting pregnant. But if there is a pregnancy, should there really be a law that says that an embryo with no awareness takes priority of the woman's needs?

By contrast, I found a website for an abortion clinic in NM who will perform abortions up to 31 weeks on demand (after on a case by case basis) and that's beyond ridiculous. It shouldn't be done unless there is an extreme circumstance. I'm sure for most women, it is an extreme circumstance, but you always get that rare exception.

Anybody who knows me knows I've gone back and forth over the years. Just know I didn't jump into any thinking. I've thought about this a lot. Obviously, others have as well.

Sound off.

Vatican opens medical clinic for the homeless

"The new clinic is next to the bathrooms and showers opened for the homeless in 2015; a year later, with the help of volunteers, services were expanded to include barbers and doctors once a week.

The clinic will be open Monday, Thursday and Saturday, said the announcement Dec. 22 from the office of Cardinal Konrad Krajewski, the papal almoner. Monday mornings, the statement said, podiatrists will be on duty to provide medical attention to patients with foot problems, something very common among the homeless.

On Wednesdays when Pope Francis holds his weekly general audience in St. Peter's Square and whenever there are large events in the square, the clinic will serve as a first-aid station, the announcement said."

To all the Trump supporters who stay by his side no matter what.

I want you to know that I have and always will think you're capable of standing by Trump in the event he shoots somebody in public.

Heck, I'm sure if he committed a mass shooting, you'd stand by him.

"I'll stand by you. I'll stand by you. Won't let nobody diss you. I'll stand by you."

Really guys, this isn't a virtue.

For people who think false accusations never happen.

I am very empathetic toward women who have been raped or assaulted. I believe the women who accuse Trump. I believe the women who accuse Clinton. I think I probably believe Anita Hill. I think Kavanaugh is innocent and Ford was assaulted by somebody else. For those who think a false accusation can never happen, here are some links.

Kavanaugh/Clinton challenge!

For pro-life conservatives:

If this was Bill Clinton, would you believe the allegations? Why or why not?

For pro-choice liberals:

If this was Bill Clinton, would you believe the allegations? Why or why not?

Kavanaugh referred to birth control as abortion inducing.

Now chill guys. It links to a Fox News video. Cruz asked Kavanaugh about his decision regarding Priests for Live vs. HHS (whether they should be forced to provide birth control in their insurance). Now, I actually support the religious right not to do that.

What I don't like is Kavanaugh referring to these pills as abortion inducing.

If abortion should be illegal, and birth control pills are abortion inducing, then what logical conclusion would Kavanaugh come to about the legality of birth control? That's right. He probably wants it to be illegal.

We need to destroy twenty dollar bills.

They have the most offensive image on them. It's Andrew Jackson. He's behind the trail of tears.

We must destroy all twenty dollar bills. However, I understand that's a lot of trouble, so I'd like to encourage you guys to send me all of your twenty dollar bills. I promise to destroy them all for you. Just me. Only send them to me. lol.
